Make your houses more interesting faster!!

Ok here is my step by step tutorial on making a house. Using this style you can make an endless amount of houses, which look nothing like eachother while using the same style. You can also merge some houses together creating a very big house using this technique, But the best thing is it is easier, faster and much more effective than making ones rom the standard house tiles.

Step 1. First off you want to add the sand on the grass using the 'Create Sand Path' from the predefined NPC menu, on the bottom scroll down menu. Some level editors are against this feature, but as long as its not overdone and used properly then it can make use as a very effective tool for creating a great grassy- earthy ground.

Step 2. Then you want to get the roof tiles, they can be found just to the left of the castle tiles at the top. In this tutorial I have used 4 different sizes of roofs, but there is an endless amount to how many you want to use. As soon as your happy with the sizes...

Step 3. Position them!. Now it makes sense to have the smaller roofs on top of the bigger ones, So dont go putting the bigger ones on the smaller ones or it would just look strange. REMEMBER YOU MUST LEAVE A BIG ENOUGH GAP BETWEEN THE ROOFS WHERE THE WALLS WILL FIT. Then you want to create a 'frame' which are the guidelines in which your brick tiling should follow. For the frame ive used the wooden tall fence things, This looks highly effective on the finished product.

Step 4. Once you have something liek the image youve seen on step 3, You want to use the walls of the standard house tiles. As you can see I have mainly used the windows and the side walls, as that is all thats needed to make an effective looking wall. But remember to leave a gap for the door at LEAST 4 tiles in width (2 times the width of a graal character). This will ensure you will have room to put a door and a frame around it near the end. Sometimes it might be a good idea to leave a gap height of 1 tile between the windows and the roof, That way you an add a nice border above it to seperate them and make it look more detailed.

Step 5. As I told you before, where the gap is for the door, you want to make a door. First you should get the inside door tiles and place them inside the middle of your gap, then around them use a border which would go well with the rest of the house. As you can see i have used parts of the town entrance post, found by the roof tiles. I have also filled the border above the windows with the bottom left and bottom right parts of the house well, which turned out pretty nice. Ive also added parts of the town entrance posts under the windows to create a wall. Then under them i have applied an arranged assortment of the treehouse steps. Now its safe to say that the house is practically complete.

Step 6. Look for some boring parts of the house (e.g. big empty roof spaces) and then jazz them up a bit by adding some detail, as you can see I have added a chimney, and the left and right sides of a roof combined to make the roof a little more interesting.

conclusion : Using this style you can make many many many houses, And then you can even add these houses together with good usage of the roof tiles. This type of house looks better in the dark with lighteffects around it. I hope you enjoyed learning about how to make better houses. Thanks for taking your time and reading this article.

Dirt trail thing looks aweful, the house is alright.. it's not like it is unbelievably special... it'd take me 5 seconds to make, and it's not that interessting

Well, It'd be good for a newb to make, and I guess you need to focus on the newb's because that's all the level makers are besides a select few

I like your tutorial. :)

I don't like the order...I typically do the bottom part first, and work up to higher levels, add side things, etc. Then I add pillars, windows, etc.

arent newbies the only ones who need tutorials?
