1st Annual Graalympics Games
[The following is an official project, pre-approved by Unixmad]
Dates revised Qualifying Week planned for July 28th - August 1st Championship planned for August 4th-8th The setup: Each playerworld choosing to attend, including the official ones, will run a preliminary Olympics during Qualifying Week. All Events Team, Game Coordinators, or equivalent will run a series of games during this week to find the Fastest/the Most Agile, the Strongest, the Best Fighter, the Most Enduring, and the Smartest player on their server. The restrictions are that no player can be selected for more than one category, the player must be available to attend the corresponding event, and no player can be working for more than one server (though they're welcome to try out for more than one team, partially because the logistics in stopping them are insane). Event organizers are well advised to keep a list of runners up handy, in case their Graalympian drops out. During this time, a scripter from each server will need to contact me (I'll post details as they become available) to finish up the server for Part Two. The Championship will be held the following week on a neutral server. Events will be planned one per day, with one Graalympian from each team competing in their own best field with all of Graal watching. Each player can choose their own gani set (that's why I need the scripters!), which should make for some epically interesting events. The events planned thus far are Tug of War for Endurance (he or she who keeps the pattern longest wins - like a very, very slow DDR), Trivia (a test of wits and nobody gets to peek at my questions), a Race on a new field (speed is important - not just processor, but reaction also), Sumo (buttonmashing - finger strength is key), and Spar (Use your own server's ganis, weapons and gauges, but you'll still do standard damage and range). Comments, thoughts? This is going to be an uber project, particularly with a less-than-a-month deadline. |
I will be the smartest player for UN.
|
be nice if they looked like a running track not just a line of tiles. So in other words some GFX. I was told about this before from Unix it seems a good idea.
|
This will be VERY difficult to organize, but if the teams are up to it. Why not?

Also make a spectator section so we can see it, and maybe a live ticker update with someone typing and everything they type scrolls across, so its like: And there off, lane one starts off into a good lead, but lane 8 is closing up really fast, from what I can see it looks like its between 1,8 and 3, and they are all close to the finishing line and Lane 3 manages to what looks like a very close win. Oh we may need photo finishes =] Or just many judges. |
Lot of work and it'll need the support of the PW managers, but it could be a lot of fun.

kaimetsu is overall atleast the most famous smart person on graal =o |
I might win the trivia contest if the subject is pancakes, but that is about it.
|

anyway I like the idea for it, and I could make gfx if you need me o.o aim is nykonx2 |
I'll keep that in mind, but I'd like to keep it fairly basic, graphically speaking. Everything will be borrowed from the participating PWs - ganis, graphics, etc. When I find a tileset that's suitable, I'll make a trivia room out of it, a pool, stands, etc.

Nice job, by the way, on bashing 1/4th of Graal's paying customers. And it's not like you could be the smartest person on UN, so you shouldn't talk. |
Yes sounds fun I would be happy to make graphic and if you need someone talking about the event very fastly I have voice-recognition software which will allow me to talk/type at 160 words per second. I'm still working on Sanstrata but I want to help Graal so please let me know ill be happy to make graphic for this.

Fair enough. Last year I was 14. I took a 16 year old level test (or so it says), and scored 150. I should think that isn't bad. |

Why not tell Nemesis to get this global spar tourny get moving? instead of making new big projects of events?

Jeeze you are a nuisance :|. You are confrontational about every possible topic in existence. Unless someone is saying exactly what you want them to say, you start these huge stupid irrelavant arguments that mess up threads by throwing their topic off into oblivion. What leads you to believe that anyone in that 40% plays UN when less than .1% of people who use the internet play Graal? |

I play UN frequently on my other account and the only trivia I ever see on there is about Final Fantasy, Zelda, SOM, and other SNES games.
I wouldn't rely entirely on the score of one I.Q. test to judge how intelligent someone is. Plus it would be nice to know what kind of I.Q. test it is. I often see people say stuff like "hey I got a 180 on this I.Q. test". Then I look over and it's a fricking Sports I.Q. test. :/ |

It was a general IQ test. Math, anagrams, the works. |
I've taken a bunch of IQ tests online at i've scored about 157 on the one i'd deem 'seemingly most in-depth' and from 155-180 on others... I don't really take the results to heart though
