Name of Graal?
 

How do YOU think the name Graal came about? Dont be like "omg wtyf! because in teh game from teh starts tey has all dem graal goblets ja nub!" We all know that. I mean seriously, make up a short story on how you think the name Graal came about. I look forward to some of them, since everyone here has lots of creativity.

Well, you ever read the King Arthur legend? One of the main plots in it was the search of the "Holy Grail", and in classic your main purpose was to none other than find the Graal[s]. :)

Well, part of it was pressure from Nintendo. I think Stefan can verify that. They were gettin' pretty pissed at Zelda Online because it used ripped sprites and stuff from A Link to The Past. So Stefan and unix had to create different graphics for the game. The whole Graal thing just sort of fell into place as I recall to fill in the gaps and to give the game a sort of purpose. By this time I think they felt that the game had real potential n'stuff. Players started flocking and hence came motivation to allow it to continue. Heh, I remember all the old old old Graal betas. Then people got all mad because unix and Stefan made a version called Graal Gold that you had to pay for. The Gold version would let you get all the NPCs and the Gold sword (nukeshot, fireblast, etc...when you got them in the regular version it wouldn't add them to your inventory)...Things were so crazy back then...anyway, sorry I got off topic there...

Maybe Stefan and unix got drunk one night and started doing vodka shots out of graals...haha I think Stefan should give an official statement or something as to where the original story came from. I think it'd be interesting to know how or where the idea came to be. All's I remember is him saying that Nintendo was giving him pressure so he was gonna completely alter the game.

Ahahah that would be friggen funny if thats how it really happened.

It's French for "grail." Still pronounced "graaaahl" though.

Thats easy its because Stefan and Unix are Monty Python fans.

A long time ago, enormous creatures walked the Earth with Humans. These creatures wielded such a power that the humans became jealous and sought after the creatures' blood in hopes that they too could obtain such a power. Then Stefan named the game "Graal" and all was well. The end.

It all started one day when unixmad was chating in a sucky java chat asking if anyone liked Zelda, Stefan was in the chat that vary same day of that vary same hour on that vary same minute (cowinkedink huh?) and Stefan stepped up and said "Zelda rocks my socks!" and then unixmad explains the project to him saying he wants to make an Zelda Online game, Stefan agreed and started to code the basic stuff while unixmad helped rip the GFX's and at the same time code too. Zelda Online was all made and it was pretty sexy too it was time to advertise it, so they went to www.yahoo.com and went through the add my site stuff and it was advertised! It became popular Stefan and unixmad hit the papers on the front cover it read Zelda Online hits over 10 million players!!. At this time they were vary happy with there product intill they got a letter from Nintendo saying to remove the game or be sued. Then Stefan had an idea! "Lets change the name and make it a game like Zelda but not Zelda!" then unixmad replied "w0rd". So they spent weeks pounding about there rooms thinking of a name. On a firday night the movie "The Holy Grail" was on it was one of unixmads favorete movies and he watched it. Then suddenly *drum roll* an idea hit unixmads head!! He quickly called up Stefan and told him the new of Zelda Online and the basic goal of the game. Stefan was vary pleased indeed. They then changed the name to Graal Online and the object of the game was to find four grails each different colors and once you do that you unlike a sword like Excalibur (not zell12 XD) but it was even better it was golden!! Many people loved the new game and played it on and on, it got vary addicting. They played and played intill Graal is what it is now :)
