Graal on Mac OS 10.2.6 without emulator!

But you do have to have a Linux box with Graal (I have yet to try Neverwinter Nights), and have X11 installed on the Mac.

Boot the Linux box with sshd running and run X11 from apple.com on the Mac.

You use your Mac terminal (I'd suggest xterm since you'll have it up at X startup) to run:

ssh -X |linux account|@|IP of Linux box|

(make sure the X is capitalized, and you don't need to state a linux account or put the @ (I think that's how you log in to a remote system where your account is different than local) if your mac and linux accounts are the same, or you create a Linux account with the same name as your Mac account)

After you login, it's as simple as typing "graal"

Runs pretty elegantly; can't tell about online mode because I'm not a VIP, but any VIPs with the proper hardware and software for this are welcome to try it out.

Screenshot enclosed.

yeah, but I'd still just run it on the linux box...unless the mac was faster

I understand perfectly well Trevor. I wasn't sayin' it was stupid or anything. I was only sayin' if I had the capability to do his method, I'd still rather just run it on the Linux box. It's a cool discovery, no doubt. I was just sayin' what I'd do, no need to get all pissy on me.

What you should understand is that many people have Macintosh laptops, and some of them (unlike myself) even have Apple-compatible wireless networking, which means that this might be the only way they could have Graal away from their desktop machines, lacking a Windows laptop :)

You, obviously, still don't understand. It is "because we can." No reason is needed.

That too. It's a geek thing.

I'm probably the first person in North America, or anywhere outside Paris, to run Graal on a Mac. Even though I also had to use a Linux box, I still had it displaying on a Mac.

I was going to say that, but I didn't want to offend you. But now that it is out of the bag, only geeks will understand!

Fools...All I said was what I would do and how it applied to ME...Again, there's no reason for you to get all pissy at me. I realize it's neat, but since I don't have a Mac, it serves no practical purpose for ME. Jeez, who crapped in your cheerios?

You the only one being serious or taking things offensize in this thread :\ .

superb 05-27-2003 08:43 AM

Sorry, I just didn't like the tone of your words.

Jeff 05-27-2003 06:50 PM

In the first post of this thread, I was being quite serious, because of course I was writing up a process.

But yes, you have to be at least a bit of a geek to understand why I did this, and you have to have a Macintosh with MacOS 10.2 and a Linux machine with Graal and sshd to use the practical side of it.

superb 05-27-2003 09:09 PM

Well, my thing was that you guys were acting like I didn't understand why you did. I completely understood why...I was just saying it was impractical for me because I don't have a Mac.

A peanut chocolate bar isnt useful to you if you cant eat peanuts, but its useful to someone. There are hundreds of users who have access here, dont snap at him because something isnt useful to you. He wouldnt have posted it if it wasn't useful to more than just him.

superb 05-27-2003 10:47 PM

I WASN'T SNAPPING AT HIM..God damn
