I dont like the red background, the green glow is nicer. And overall thats one cool cat!

I like, but your shading sucks. Instead of having black lines for the ripples, try using a darker green for the shirt, and a darker blue for the pants. And give it some shadows in some places. Detail it =p. It was easier to see on WHITE.

Wow, this brings back memories of my early pixeling days. *tear* Good job on it though, you're headed in the right direction. Just need to pick up a couple little skills and practice and it will be good to go. :)
