hmm? i would mostly think of the lag x.x, it would be terrible if u did have a 450 mhz computer lol...

You used to be able to do that a long time ago but it was taken out for some reason.
No idea the reason but I'm sure it must have been a good one.

a lot of people would probably make their own servers that probably wouldn't have many good qualities, just so they can feel "in control", and possibly brag..

less people would upgrade their accounts because it's harder to control what the server owners do (unless it's somehow linked with the master servers in a way that's hard to bypass, but even then it's still possible) .. this would probably depopulate the main servers more

there's also a greater chance of people disassembling/decompiling the server if they have easy access to it, and doing whatever they want with it (illegally) ..

even if there're ways around these things, it's not usually good to have players hosting servers that for the most part aren't reliable enough to want to link to

__

is there a good reason to have to host your own server unless
a) it's not good enough to be accepted officially
b) you want to allow playing for free
c) you want to modify the server illegally
?
NPC server doesn't count! :) there's probably that could be made to test this in the client in the future, but I don't know if anyone will code it

It wouldnt ever be re-introduced. Considering the payments are coming in soon.

For some game types like first person shooter personal servers make sense, since there can only be 2-16 players and the game rounds are short. Graal is a MMORPG where the servers must be up 24/7 and take a lot of bandwidth, which means they cost money, not many people can spend some thousands of dollars each month for that for free, and investing day and night to keep the servers up and running, including configuring the network, protect the computers against hacks and attacks.
Also we don't make money by selling the game client, we make money by charging for online time, so we need to limit the servers.

I understand thats how you make money< but what if it was extra, and you needed to be a subscriber to use. Like i could make my own Little quest wth 1 20 player limit and host it, it shows on a list and they connect, I have a 1.8ghz so i would be fine. Graal wont lose any money and therse nothing ileagal. I think that would be great

I saw that already, BUT., not everyone wants to host an entire PLayerWorld, and I dont like NPC servers :P. Id just like to host a hangout for npc testing and whatnot ^_^
