A long time ago, miners would work in the mines searching for whatever miners search for. Mercury would leak into their helmets from the types of lights they used, the mercury would seap into their brains causing a sort of hysteria. The media dubbed them "The Mad Hatters".

While that may be true, the Mad Hatter from Wonderland was given his name because in Carroll's time, hatmakers (called Hatters) would use mercury to make their hats, and obviously exposure to mercury on the skin causes madness over time.

Wonderland was written by two stoners. Go figure?

I find that extremly easy to believe.
I think they were on a trip the whole time while writing it's plot.

Two stoners? I believe Lewis Carroll wrote the original poem himself on his own accord
