What genre do you think Graal falls under?

Just decided to start a little conversation. If Graal HAD to fall under one category of genre, what would it be? Lots of people ask this. Would it be RPG or Action/Adventure? It has aspects of both games, but if it had to be listed, say, in a magazine, what ONE genre would you call Graal? I personally think Action/Adventure. The PEOPLE of Graal have made it that, with their names and playerworlds.

Does the acronym MMORPG help? :p

Googi 05-03-2003 06:55 PM

RPG. There's not that much action, and even less adventure.

I think it's SUPPOSED to be RPG like... but a lot od servers have no theme, and quests are just random, and nothing works together to form really 1 solid game...
:\
but i'm trying to fix that with my PW ;) i'm making sure the theme is steady throughout the whole PW, including quests, and everything... so the world actually makes sence, instead of just a bunch of random things put together
:P

To some extent I don't like storys or themes. As your told and forced to go a certain way. With random things you are free to do what you want.

Classic is adventure. But they're making Kingdoms into an SMMORPG. Guess what that means.

not really... I mean.. most servers, it's like "you have to get the hearts, and stuff, so you can play the game" ... because 'the game' is seen as PKing, Sparing, guild wars, and events... questing has become something you are forced to do, so you can play the server
:\
I would like to have servers become a place where questing is actually part of the game, and part of every-day 'life' on the server... it doesn't mean you are forced to do the quests, it just means that if you would like to, you can, and then you get a little something extra
=)
but with most servers, you have to do this quest, and fight some evil tree, and get a heart, then go do this pot maze for another, and kill this evil dude for another heart... and it just becomes boring, and annoying...

i think it falls under the catagory mpkg mindless player killing game

LOL That's pretty good. I agree with what ETD posted how it may be aimed at a RPG game but so many other servers are little to no theme based. I kinda see Graal Kingdoms as an adventure, and when I first did the quest on Classic trying to find and complete them was an adventure.

This is what Google says;

Who said it was an MMORPG? On the site, it officially says Graal is a MMOG (massively multiplayer online game)...so NAH.

Some games just can't be defined as one genre, I mean especially with online games.

There is fighting, puzzle, strategy, adventure, action, and roleplaying in Graal. I'm sure I left a few out, but still, it's multi-genre. If you had to classify it as one, it would probably just be "online game"

PrinceDark 05-04-2003 03:12 AM

Chat and S/D Tapping with a combo of imaginary RPing and pot mazes.

Ibonic 05-04-2003 07:34 AM

"PG"

Ghost Pirate 05-04-2003 07:43 AM

Last I checked it says "RPGOnline Game" on the client.

Androk 05-04-2003 04:15 PM

I agree, it has no certain genre. Unless you tell us 1 server to judge by.

Most Classic Servers are Action/Adventure (PKing/Quests) except Valikoria and Providence and all of new age servers. They are RPGs.

Graal 2002 is an RPG as well.

GBM is everything. So it's an online game.

daboo 05-04-2003 04:47 PM

It's an Action RPG, like the game it was based off of, Zelda.
