7/10 for both....
nothing incredible.... i know you can do better =0 i don't like the light blue water in the middle of the river... also, it's not very natural, since the deep side of the river would be on the outside of a curve, not the inside... but that's nothing level related really lol so yea, instead of the light water in the middle, maybe use the dark blue? and add some of those stones =P and the grassy part of the levels don't look too detailed... maybe add some detail there too :) like i said, i know you can do better ;) also, who are you making levels for now? or for what? |
Quick review as im tired...
Level One: I honestly wouldn't use them mushrooms! It blocks the players and so its an anoyance. Secondly the water works quite well how there is deep water by the cliffs, but the very shallow water (light-blue) is too boring and dull, maybe add a stip of grass down there. Thirdly, the grass around the tree is a bit blank, so shove some detail in there. Last of all, the grass, dont use half of the long grass, it doesn't look nice by its self. SO full or nothing would be my suggestion. Sparks Rating: 4/10 -Reason for this is, its not a full level, and needs improving. Level Two: I'll start with the path. Its a bit boring, there are [i]three[/b] dirt tiles mainly used, as well as two rocks! So there are 5 tiles to use. So spread the tiles out a bit more, and dont use groups of tiles in patches, it doesnt look as good. Some of the grass needs detailing and the swamp needs to work, the grass needs more depth and intrest to it (short swamp, light green square off the village walkway) Water could just do with a jazz up as there are big parts of the same color, which gets boring, so odd specks of deep dark-blue water or some more waves! 0_0 Sparks Rating: 5/10 -Reason for this is, its not a full level, its better than the last, but once again there are blank spots for improvement. |

I'm a bit rusty I guess. I haven't made a lot of levels since I worked on Frolic about a month ago. Since then I been mostly scripting stuff. Also I put up full screenshots now since I fixed the problem with the directx.

Levels now are all about presence, not how logically the objects and terrain is placed in the level. People complain -- like Kaimestu -- that paths are all nuts and wacked because they aren't straight and curve a bit. What looks better. A straight path, or a curved one with little "jig-jagged" sides.
With them mushrooms, they give you nice color to the level, and a different change of mood. If you get angry using them because they block you, take a full-screen screenshot, copy of mspaint, crop around the mushroom, and then go to psp and change it to a png. :O Also, the dark-water idea was great, it isn't logical, but it looks fantastic. I like both levels equal. 8/10 |
They arent that bad in my opinion... Certainly better than some levels in other servers. It would problably look a lot better with a new tileset tho. Thats whats wrong with pics of lvls these days, too many new tilesets = people get used to it = they hate old tileset and people's lvls look bad =/
