End of Ages

1 Attachment(s)
End of Ages is a playerworld project which began in November 2002. It was started by a team of people wishing to make a server where things happened, and the server would evolve, and there was actually things to do, while also having a quality staff, and a good playing environment.

Since then, a few staff members have left, but others have joined, but the vision has remained about the same. I am the manager, but most of the credit goes to my staff. They have worked hard to make this server a reality, and i respect their efforts, and i do not wish to see them wasted. I will now be attaching 3 screenshots. If you think they are bad, then you are free to say so, but please say how they can be improved as well. There is no point in just saying it's bad, if you don't offer a solution as well.

now, the first screenshot is of a very simple house inside. I made this level just to show the tiles, so judging the level based on detail, or anything won't help. I hope you like it.

This second level is an average overworld level. It shows some of the new detailing tiles which we have added, and gives you an idea of the detailing work which my LAT's are doing. All levels will be to this standard, or higher. Remember, this is just a random level :P

And this last level is a Dwarven Cave. i know i haven't explained the theme, so maybe i should here. There will be three races. Humans, Elves, and Dwarves. Humans live in the overworld basically, while Elves live in hidden forest cities and towns, and Dwarves live in their caves. I made this level just to show the tiles, and the different forms of paths, and such.

zell12 04-13-2003 04:08 AM

All the people making their own playerworld should get all the people most talented in their field and come together to make one big super playerworld. :D

Mykel 04-13-2003 05:10 AM

No, Chibi Terrorbite made it for CB when we I worked there, then gave it to EoA, and its a recolor.

not as ugly as the gold, predifined one tho.

Chicken_l33t 04-13-2003 02:06 PM

All looks nice ;D, one suggestion the wooden floor tiles in the cave level remove the black outline it makes them stick out from the floor >.> but all is great :D.

It worse! If your having a mat, then make it look like a mat, and not whatever the mats look like.

good idea, but the tiles were mostly made to be used to make inside floors (so the whole floor would be those tiles, and not dirt). Like i said, i was trying to use all the dwarf tiles in that level ;) because i now send it to any LAT's that are making caves, so they can use it as a guide.

I don't really like the smiley signs or the bush with the blue, but everything else looks fine.

dont worry, on our forums we are talking about those 2 things, but thx.

Soul-Blade 04-13-2003 06:53 PM

Wow, looks like a revolutionary new classic world. That is how all classic worlds should look.

I love the cave tiles, they are flawless for the style I see going. I would replace the smily face sign.

I love how you edited the default tileset nicely, keeping the classic feel but adding extra to make it look much better, much more professional.

Hehe, finally it looks like a playerworld is properly using the classic tileset.

Some comments on the inside level... Well the walls seem strange, since it's like you're looking at it from a fisheyed topdown view. I don't think that view is possible at all. All 4 sides of the walls wouldn't be seen equally like that, but oh well... Secondly, change the floor border to something more fitting.. (that purplish brownish thing that surrounds the floor tiles and goes around the wall)

The blue on the pots needs it's contrast turned down. The color saturation is way too high. It makes it look like some blue ring that is floating around a pot. If you fade it a bit, it will look more like a painted on decoration. Also, if you insist on using that red carpet, at least turn the saturation down on that as well... something a little less bright and vivid, as it's totally clashing with all the other tiles. I like the floor and bookshelf though, they seem a bit better quality than the other stuff.

The outside looks okay... Although I agree about the bush thing and the sign. Good job overall. Much better than most tileset modifications.

well, if you remember the old house insides... that's how they are =X those are tiles that replaced those blue inside house walls... they had big bricks on the bottom, and blue on the top... anyways, that's why the walls are like that... it's how the classic tileset was.

and one of my GAT's is working on a new boarder now... we had left the old one because we couldn't think of what to put there yet.

I guess I should say something

After a very long time of not working, my graal forum account finally works once again. As I was browsing the forums, I noticed that the last post by ETD was made a while ago, so I figured I would bring you up to date on what is happening on End of Ages.

We are up to Release 5 of the EoA Preview Graphics Pack, a lot of graphics and items have changed since those old screenshots were posted. While some of the new changes are private for now, others are not and I will share some of those with you.

I have made a new rug in the more recent tilesets; it looks much more like a real rug and is better to look at than the edited one we were using. We have made new inside borders tiles that match with the inside look of our levels. My GAT Captain, Crimson Eagle, has completed work on editing and modifying the inside level graphics and they come out very nice. A good number of inside level graphics have been changed to blend better with our tileset like the chairs, tables, etc. A stone fireplace, cave boulders, stalagmites, entrances, and stone walls are but a few of the new graphics you will be seeing.

Recently, I have finished the Dwarf Interface as well as modifying the Humain Interface. There are a few minor changes I still have to add, but in general they are done. One feature that you surely like is the custom PM icons that match the general style of the interface you are using.

The LAT team has been busy working on levels for all of the races and from what I have seen; they are doing a fine job. I think they have finally gotten to the point where they are comfortable using the EoA tileset. I know it hasn't been easy for them since some of the GFX Pack releases have changed the tiles and graphics quite drastically. Hopefully changes that severe are a thing of the past, but the tileset is still a work in progress so they can't hold me to that. ;) I can't wait to see what cool creations they will come up with, they have already done some real nice work already.

Our forums are temporarily down but should be back up any day now. Once they are up again, we should have some more stuff to share with you all since I know you are interesting in what we are doing. End of Ages is shaping up nicely now, the teams are getting experienced and settled in and work has been going at a constant pace. We appreciate any constructive criticism, ideas or suggestions you might have about EoA, all the other ones will be dealt with by our team of specially trained cyber-ninjas.

P.S. I edited this message since it seems that the old message was combined with the new message somehow. This one should be much easier to read.

Take Care & Pixels Beware,
- KyleOdin

Im saying: Make the mat, look like a mat. Its nothing like one. Its ugle, pointless, and wrecks the whole level due to its uglyness. Make it look like a mat!

Sorry for the double post... but i can't attach this screenshot to my last post...

I went ahead and re-took the house screenshot, exept i made the house wider to show the fireplace (without flame, sorry).

you'll see the new walls, chest, bed, wall boarder, table, and chairs. Also, the pot was changed, so it's not so bright, and the shelves, and book case have been edited to match the newer walls. And NOW you can see the new mat
;)

*edit* also, i took this screenshot, useing the Human interface thingy :P whereas the last shot was taken with the Elvish one.
:)

G_yoshi 04-27-2003 02:38 AM

I must say that it looks nice :)

Ducken 04-27-2003 03:08 AM

Yes, it looks very nice.

Keep up the good work. :)

Don't mind him. He says that about every playerworld that doesn't hire him. ;)

HoudiniMan 04-27-2003 05:54 AM

The mat looks MUCH better! But i would suggest, if possible, changing the boarder... The inside has a lot of detail and quality to it, but the boarder looks like it was drawn in a much worse resolution... might wanna give it more detail too. It's as if the boarder of the mat is using different sized "threads" if you will...

Mykel 04-27-2003 06:08 AM

very nice.

Darlene159 04-27-2003 06:26 AM

Nice, I like the fireplace

Spark910 04-27-2003 11:24 AM

Did the mat go through a bread slicer? What happened to it. You can do that lovely tileset, and not do a 'mat'. Maybe its me, I dunno, just dont like either mats you have produced.
