I thought with the two instruments out....
even more proof as a bard class comming out :grin::grin: any one got suggestions on instruments? i think....a pianno (house) and mandolin maybe a drum(s)

You don't need a separate class! Just be a warrior who knows some tunes or something. I'm currently learning to play the Highwind theme from FF7 ^_^

what other instrument is there besides the flute? o.o
Unless you mean that war horn thing |
I'd buy the need for a bard job, but not a class. Just be a thief.
Oh, and I believe I overheard work on music put to use at soothing the savage beast. Not positive. |
The singing skill :)

actually as a side note have the bard class implemented with the theif....theif's would be much better
|
In a game where a barbarian and read, write, cast magic, sing, play flutes, and worship gods...what the need for classes?
|
just do it for the final server re do the barbarian's simple

We plan to reduce the count of classes / only have 1. It is interesting to limit things to classes, but that is somehow not the Graalian way.. Problem is that most people just choose the class where they can level up the easiest way, and the classes in their current form just do some little stats difference and different starting items/skills. Then it might be best if there is only one 'class', and people then do what they like most (fighting, farming, magic, etc.)

Yea I'd say it'd probably be a better system if there was a little display that said what your categorized as at the time based on the actions your player has done, or the level of different sub-levels. Anybody know what I mean?
Like you'd be neutral at the beginning, and if you casted alot of magic you'd be classified as a Mage later, and maybe certain stats would be slightly tweaked to aid you in mage related activies. Or maybe you could be a combo of 2 or more, and have some in-between class name, and would get benefits for those 2 categories but be less potent. |
Alright, I got it (yes, I AM still alive, but I've been busy this last week). See, we take what Zen and the others said, and here is what I've got:
You select your stats, like, you would start out with a stat of 15 in everything (base stats like dex, charm, int, etc.) Then, you could choose one of two paths, like Mage or Fighter, then you start out with some basic skills, depending on what you chose (Mage would get Wizardry, Warrior would get melee weapons.) Then, there could be quests to get new skills, like singing, etc, nothing limited to any classes. Then, the more you use a skill, like melee weapons, or magic, you would be classified as a certain class, and it would be easier to level up certain things based on that class. Afterword, if you were using melee weapons a lot, and began to use magic a lot, you get a new class. Then magic would be in two categories, light and dark, prayers and spells, respectively. All classes would have certain limits, and certain bonuses. For example, if you're close to equal in light and dark magic and fighting, you become a red mage. The Red mage would have good stats in everything, but great stats in none, and magic and fighting powers would not be greater than that of a pure fighter or pure mage, you see? a Fighter would have better dex, con, and str, but lower int, charm, etc. and a mage would have greater mage-type stats, etc. The way to combat the way players are currently (like stats of high to mid 10s) you would remove the classes, and set everyone's stats to 15 or something. Yes, I have read the previous posts, this is just a summary of all that was said + my own ideas. |
