Types of Damage
 
Well, you know how poison hits its victim and leaves them poisoned for a certain amount of time? Well, why is it that only poison does that? If someone is hit with fire, don't they catch fire? So I am suggesting that weapon attacks should all be like poison. For example, fire can leave its victim burning for the same period of time poison does. Electricity can stun its opponent. Confusion can confuse it's opponents...and well you catch my drift. I think it's a pretty good idea and it will balance the attack types out more, and spice up melee combat a little bit :)

Yea... thinking a bit... when you are hit by electricity... you dont just keep going and feel pain... and when your blasted by an inferno of flames... you don't just ignore it and fight on...

Confusion should work like this: When a person is "confused" the D-pad stops working right, like left is down, up is right, etc, and every so often, the controls change AGAIN, so it's difficult while it lasts.

I agree and it should show fire on your hair or someting. And acid on u/ confusion mark above ur head... etc

Weapons with both fire and physical damage seem to do double as it is, if anything burning should be the same as depletion cept with your hp and fire damage should be reduced drastically if that is implemented.

Paralyze and Electric damage = seperate things and should always be that way. I believe paralyzing makes you stay in one place for quite some time and that is really advantageous.....Instead of making electric damage do that why don't they just make a weapon which has electric damage and paralyzes...*cough* there is one already *cough* Bow of Thunder.

Confusion should make you hit yourself not screw the buttons x.x

as an add on to chris's idea think about it do you realize how many people have fire weapons. for instance my large morning star of rugalli so let me get this straight. it has a damage +17 now add a fire effect like poison. well the fire damage already does like +10 damage so thats 27 make it lasting hmm whats that around 50-60 damage ;-/

When was the last time YOU impaled yourself with a Naginata or any sharp weapon for that matter when you were confused? And due to the fact that this is a video game anyway, my screwed up D-pad idea should make more sense.

actually missing your target would make more sense... possibly hurting yourself, what if you trip and stab yourself?

and the damage thats like poison shouldnt allways happen, but sometimes it should :) kind of random and not too often

Yes, it should do continuous damage - that seems to happen with Burning Hands anyway - and just like the kingdom ganis, it shouldn't be too difficult to make a player with a fire gani overlay, yes?

Confusion - yes, DPad
Lightning - spasms, you randomly stumble, turn, swing, unequip your weapon, etc.
Fire - continuous damage, cured by using 5 water quickly or jumping into a body of water
Poison - continuous damage, yes
Acid - same as Poison really
Ice - frozen, +50 defense while encased in ice

I agree with Tyhm all the way, but Acid should be different, like, damage is temporarily lowered because your weapon was corroded or something, and you can fix it by going to some shop or using a "Restore Weapon" powder or something.

About fear, does it work? Shouldn't it be different, a fear attack will lower defense/strenght/con/agility, because if you're scared to hell you sometimes don't hit someone or something, or it should stun someone.

Hmm Im still unsure what death does...or is supposed to do something, what about for blind?
For cold types, like the ice dagger, ice axe, it should freeze you, so it slows down your speed, but not so much since you arent frozen solid(maybe a gani with the character turning slightly blue :o) or you get frost bites o.O

Blind should lower your ac and wc (cuz you can't see well enough to hit or dodge properly.) Um...not to rain on your parade, but slow should slow you, not ice, and frostbite would be like poison then, wouldn't it? I think it should freeze you in place, but double your ac, and if you're hit, you get unfrozen (no, it won't be freeze, unfreeze, freeze, unfreeze, because you like poison and suh, you won't ALWAYS be affected on the first hit, maybe not even after the 20th.)

well say that your cold resist is 50, chances are it wont affect you as much as it will comparing to someone with 20. and it would sort of be like poison, won't freeze you literally, but affect your stats, or make your HP go down gradually

That is EXACTLY what poison is. Stat down + gradual hp loss.
