Deaths and loss (again)

No experience loss is good but:
As you already said there are people with slower
connections who die really easy. They don't loose experience anymore but loosing items is also terrible :(
Another problem is: now that people loose their items people start pking to collect the money what can be annoying (even if youre in peacfull mode)
My suggestion:
No loss anymore! people who die will:
a: restart with low hp/mp
b: always restart in bomboria (sp?)
eventally: loose about 100 food points

Selzar 03-14-2003 05:22 PM

NO
STOP WHINING You LOSER.

Then this game would be the stupidest EVER.
I still think some exp loss should be back but no level loss.
Also if your just standing around town waiting for someone to dig bomies at you then GET OUT.

No
No
No
No
No

Borgie 03-14-2003 05:30 PM

just to let you know: im NOT a lv 1 and i DON'T HAVE a slow connection

If you die in the other two you dont loose anything and nobody is complaining ;)

Are either of those games among the two most popular MMORPGs in existence? No? Didn't think so, because they both implement penalties on death.

Selzar 03-14-2003 05:53 PM

ALL MASSIVE multplayer games have a penalty on death, it what makes the game have a sort of CHALLENGE.

zell12 03-14-2003 05:57 PM

Selzar you are breaking internet laws by using all caps for no reason. If you want to make a stress in a point use '!' k?

caps is against the law? i thought it meant u were emphasising the point...and if this post sounded stupid dont falme me, i only had a few hours of sleep and my eyes are like this @.@

Googi 03-14-2003 09:14 PM

For the record, Neopets doesn't have a penalty on "death", and I don't think there's any online games more popular than Neopets...

Anyways, the whole "shell bomy digging up" thing is somewhat pointless. People in peaceful mode should be exempt from item loss/exp loss.

Selzar 03-15-2003 01:49 AM

Zell..
each time you post you make your self look like a *****.
DenoriZakarum is right what he said.
I am doing that.
I am not yelling you idiot.

Here is what you do: don't die! if you have a slow connection, then don't fight strong monsters until you're high enough leveled, it's a very simple thing, from any point of view.

Selzar 03-15-2003 03:39 AM

This isnt gonna happen.
Erase this stupid thread.

I actually agree with Selzar 100% on this one =/

I'm not sure if I agree with that. First of all, do you have actual user counts? Second, Neopets isn't an RPG - you don't play a role.

zell12 03-15-2003 06:48 AM

Vahn, do you know bold is for? -_-

Well, the number of accounts registered at Neopets is 49.6 million, though a lot of people have more than one account.

And, yes, it's not an RPG, but I was mostly talking to Selzar.

EDIT: Neopets gets 260,288,000 pageviews pet day on average, perhaps that would be a more accurate way of measuring popularity.

Selzar 03-15-2003 09:02 AM

Zell do you ever comment on anyone else but me?
What if I don't want to use bold you *****.

So lay off you loser.

Neopets sucks.

Psch. Why bother?

Sure, but how many page views does the average player generate every day? A hundred? A thousand?

freak0102 03-15-2003 09:23 AM

Item loss is pretty bad. People with high levels shouldn't have more of a reason to PK people with lower levels. It should just be EXP given to the PKer and EXP is lost from the loser, but maybe making it so you can't get EXP from someone with a lower level...

Kaiser2 03-15-2003 07:24 PM

Then no one would ever want to fight =/
I'm not a PKer, but you have to look from their perspective too.
Fighting monsters is one thing, fighting actual people is a completely different thing.

If by "fight", you mean PK...then that's good. Noone should PK. Maybe if someone were to make a guild of murderers...but like people have said, they should suffer the IC consuquences of mass-murdering. Maybe RP jails should be set up...and after someone is PKing so much, some fighting-ranked people from a kingdom could be sent to get the person, and they just have to get him to low HP, and then they can go through a nice long RP progress of getting him jailed which starts off with this being tied up (disabling movement) and then he could be dragged around, of course someone might want to just log off before getting jailed, but then they'd log back on as a guy who's tied up. Only way out of it without being sent to a jail would be to reset his char :-P ...only problem I see with this is that some kings would eventually see this as like on the old PW's, jailing people forever which is an alternative to banning -_-

Kaiser2 03-16-2003 03:18 AM

Well, it can be limited, like, you'll only be jailed for 5 days as the max, or something.

Googi 03-16-2003 06:27 AM

Well, actually, I think the best solution would be to just do away with battle mode, and make it so people can only fight in places like that fighting arena thing.

Kaiser2 03-16-2003 07:28 AM

Then everyone would get the same amount of exp as everyone else with no risks whatsoever -_-

well,i was thinking it can actually time you....then it won't be like someone can just think "well,i wont have time to play for next 5 days anyways....i dont care if i'm jailed"

Kaiser2 03-16-2003 07:39 AM

Well you see, during those 5 days they miss precious leveling up time, looking for item time, and in general, communication with other people time XD
