Boomerang
I think the boomerang should be added to graal2k. I mean its not like its "too powerful"(it doesn't hurt) its just a semi-useful npc.. and i'd be willing to pay for it an everything. and u could also like use iron arc and other things to upgrade it to do half a heart of damage.. but thats not even neccisary, i'd be happy w/just a boomerang, heh.

0.o i've never experienced any lag from a boomerang.. and i dunno neone who has, it doesn't use timeouts or nething and pretty everyone has the images for it

Ideas
I talked to stefan and he says the boomerang has to do something "special" so i'd like any ideas you could offer here are a few posibilities:
-Pick up gralat -Stun, freeze the player for a few seconds(too powerful?) |

you could make a nice new event with that (if the boomerang can pick up items) you could do it like who picks up the most items from a big hole that guy wins
and those items are all bouncing to walls and eachother :) and ofcourse the people can't stand in the hole but have to pick items from a certain spot... winner gets the money worth to the items he collected so every item has his own value like: A tv is worth 1 gralat A teddybear is worth 0.5 gralat and keep going on like that... Also the player could choose the money or points and if the player collected enough points he/she will get a new npc weapon... I would love to see such a game... :cool: :rolleyes: |

maybe it could be crafted out of durby or iron or something! Maybe what u craft it froms changes its color maybe u could even get pearls from bomies and craft it with them :) |

Yeah, it's easy. Where the player and baddy hit detection is, add item detection, when it hits remove the rupee, add it to a this.var, and showimg the rupee behind the boomerang, when it returns to the player playerrupees+=this.rupeesremoved;

people would sit in water, wait til someone was PKed, run over and bomerang gralats. |

I like the picking up items option and also the stun/freeze player ideas.

Stunning people = BAAAD idea
you'd be walking down Bombaria park and someone would throw it at you for no reason, You'd be stuck for 3 seconds then you would walk on and they would hit you again, if you tried running away or slashing them they would just DO IT AGAIN i mean people would make a mess of travel I think picking up Gralats and such would be a good idea but only one item at a time |
a boomerang, in the sense you all are talking about is wayyy too Zeldaish. If a boomerang is to be added it should be used for something completely different, such as dislodging rocks from a cliff so it can be climbed or knowking fruit form trees, etc

Sometimes copying Zelda is ok... face it... you'l never get ANYWHERE if you don't copy SOME game SOME time.... name one item in the game that truely hasn't been done before... one... any one item...
Axe - Faldon (an online rpg) or maby even in UO too Farming - Same as above Fishing - off the top of my head...... gee... Zelda! Bow - obviously Zelda Bomb - Yup thats zelda Mace - Various lesser adventure games have used similar weapons but I don't know the names of any of them Fire Rod - Zelda Invis Cloak - Zelda Airship/Spaceship - uh gee.. FF series? You get the idea man... Even my own creations: My Bottles - Zelda... thrown away for that long time ago... always was ticked My morning star(an outwardly spiraling mace that then spirals back in) - hrm no player ever had this but the sorta mini boss gaurding Zelda in the castle when you help her escape had one.... |
One enemy in a Kirby game had a mace exactly like the Graal one.

Galen is right Juron, thats exactly what is wrong, too many things are copied. G2k1 has hardly any of those things i think so maybe we should try and not make g2k1 as graal classic is copying Zelda everywhere (but of course, it IS changing ^^) |

well, I'm pretty sure gralats aren't stored in the items[] array anymore since they're npcs, so the boomerang would need to use triggeraction. Perhaps it could trigger actionboomeranghit and the npc it hit would react accordingly...or something like that...

good idea Kyle, then itd be easy to change what things the boomerang does, break rocks drop fruit, annoy the police men maybe even trigger secret walls to open..

somehow the npc would need to communicate back though telling the boomerang whether to halt travel and return or continue traveling until max distance and then return...You could probably send the player's account name as a parameter or use something to attack the npc to the player when it's hit and mess with the boomerang that way...

My point was its impossible NOT to copy another game! Everything HAS ALLREADY BEEN DONE!
Face it.... all you can do is add a few original features our introduce the weapon in an innovative way... take the gameboy zeldas as your example... the switch shot(whatever you wanna call it) switches you with an enemy seed shooter shoots seeds that bounce of walls.... need I go on? |

how about this,
script a boomerang that 2 players can go and play with. They can throw it back and fourth and sometimes it dosen't make it or fly right and lands on the ground. |
