Well, I said another would not come for a while. I lied =P

Tell me what you think. Keep in mind, the gui still has a tiny bit of work left to do. Other then that...system NPCs are all done. Been working hard on it..the menu system is all done, movement, a few others....and I made alot more graphics. Well anyway, here it is.

Wow, everything looks amazing, especially the variety of trees. The trees look very good :), everyone always uses the same exact one.

The only thing I see wrong is the body, the guy's head looks scrunched on there X.x, no neck. For as good as the other GFX are, I'd like to see the player comparable to that. Amazing though, keep it up :).

I don't like the GUI. The HP/MP/EP/otherthing bars are too small to give a quick and accurate representation of the player's health etc, and the stat window seems a little intrusive. Plus it seems too heavily stacked on the left - the stat thing would feel more comfortable over on the right, or divided between both sides.

Hehe finally some useful comments (though I appreciate everyone elses). The bars are a little small, which I why I might make a text display in the future...as for the stat window I agree there as well. I don't know what else to do with it, I was thinking make it appear only after standing still for like 5 seconds, or whenever you get a level up or something like that. But I also don't think dividing it up or changing sides would make it better, I have other things planned for the sides, like displaying status effects and such things heh.

Oh and to everyone who does not like the head...well, I don't know, I kinda like him. The animation looks good, and I just think he is cool. That head is very easily adjusted though, so I might change it around.

AAARG How many stat-based PWs are there going to be? Everybody is just copying off GK's success! Oh well, graal has changed. Where the heck are the freaking classic servers? They're all weird now.

I'd just make them a little bigger (textual displays can be even more difficulty to quickly assess - humans are better at judging how long a line is than how large X is in relation to Y), but it's your call.

There are a number of options. I'd probably use something like a little portrait of the player which, when clicked, slides out to reveal all his stats etc. Maybe pressing a key could have the same effect, I dunno. You'd just need to experiment.

Fair enough, then. I just think that humans (or maybe just me) seem to be better at glancing to the right than the left. Most games have the major stats on the right, so maybe we've just gotten used to it. Chicken and the egg, yo.

Get a hold of yourself =P. My PW was stat based (well, my old one, Murasamune) far before GK ever even was thought of. And I got stat based from other RPGs. I can give a crap about "GK's Success". You want classic? Play the CLASSIC PWs!

I hate the leaf part of the tree.
Its so small compared to the actualy size of the tree... very out of porportion, it looks like the trees on Namek on DragonBallZ
The players face scares me majorly, is it supposed to look like fatr bastard got hit with a baseball bat?

I accross between a GBC game, Playerworlds [The game not graal PWs] and something weird,

Tileset is not very nice, and I dont like the trees, still nobody has made a tree that looks like a tree and is good.

Warcaption, out of proportion? Have you ever seen the games I get the basics of my style from? SOM, SOM2, and lots of other SNES RPGs...wow they had trees that were in perfect proportion, didn't they? Not to mention, the trees are perfectly in proportion to tree trunks, just not to the player. I would make some realistic trees, but I don't know, maybe GK has a ton of stuff like that and I am trying to make something original to graal.



I am not even sure if I should reply to Spark whats his head, because it was completely *****ic. Any sane person can see that the green objects on top of the brownish objects are tree tops, and the whole thing is a tree. I don't understand where you get grounds for that, considering the following...

-Graal has Zelda like trees right now.
-GK has realistic trees right now
-I have a more of a detailed zelda like tree, more like SOM

Is there ANY other style of trees besides that? So the comment

Is senseless.

I agree with Kaimetsu on the status thing... Try to extend the width of the HP MP and EP bars to 100 pixels. That way, you can easily tell (and set) the players health percentage. Imagine if the player had 100 hp and got hit down to 90 or something, it would be nearly impossible to tell on that small HP meter (except maybe when you had half health, full health, or no health, lol)

About the treetops... I think they could tend to be a little bit larger. I'd say... 32 pixels more in width, and 16/32 pixels more in height. Also, here are a few tips that might make the status look better:

1. Try to make the clock hands a pixel thicker if possible, it will make it easier to see the lines.

2. A trick with text is, if you have text that is static (meaning it doesn't ever change) such as the "HP MP EP" text, then just add it into the actual status image as a more smoothed text, so it doesn't get that pasted on pixelated feeling.

3. For the nonstatic text, try putting a contrasting color behind it. (like for the white S D Z X at the bottom, put a black S D Z X behind them, to the right one pixel, and down one pixel. It gives it the shadow effect and makes it seem more professional looking then just bland text on the screen. Basically like graal's chat text.

As for the rest... well I think the colors are contrasting a lot. You have really light colored grass, but really dark colored treetops/rocks/things. You have the brownish gray treetrunks, and then those brighter brown trunks, and they kind of don't mesh well together. Oh, and the clock seems a little off center on the background, which kinda makes that ugly "close but not touching" pixel look.

Actually, I had a mjor problem with the grass. Every time I looked at the grass, in fact, I had a major problem with it. So I did indeed change it by a large ammount. As for the rest, they are very good suggestions and I will no doubt integrate most/all of them. Thanks for the comment, was very helpful.

Judging from what I know of your layout and quests, I'd say thier pretty inventive. :-) Although putting a time limit on some things, I don't like. I like the idea of having Required Quests and Side Quests as well. And that you've planned things out to an extent, I like that.

lol Soul after looking at it and then again looking at it , I still don't like the grass and of course pumkin head. I happen to like the trees but the grass as in so many RP servers looks more like carpet than grass, maybe its just me. *shugs* ohh yea the grass color on my comp looks like light green pea soup. Is that what it is or is that my comp?

Grass is already taken care of...the character...I think it looks really good. In motion and everything, I just like it. I cannot find anything to change. But, there will be a variety of characters so if you do not like him, don't fear, there will be more.
