Arrows!

Ok, here is the deal. If you are shot by an arrow, you die. If you are hit by a sword and wear good armor, you might not, but an arrow will kill you by piercing you. In GK, an arrow hardly causes a scratch, and you can heal easily before hit again. It's hard enough to hit a moving object already, so I have thought up of2 solutions.

1) Arrows do more damage, maybe 5 times a much, it's really hard to hit anyone/anything with arrows already.

2) Easier aiming with arrows, maybe just hold s, and click on a location to shoot.

Overall, it'd be best to do 1 or the other, but not both.

Post what you think.

i think there definately needs to be some change to it, since they are impossible to use, but for that much damage then everyone might start using them, then people complain they are unfair... then they get changed back and everything goes back to normal. therefore, it wont happen, well atleast not anytime soon anyway.

Remember, there is still option number 2, and option 1 also means that your chance of hiting is really low, so even wih that attack power, you might never hit.

Yes, this would help roleplaying too.
Finally Archers would be useful for something in RP Battle besides ship snipers.

They're hardly ship snipers even now x.x

One time I saw one kill another guy that was in battle mode from across the ship.
But that was back when you could do like "/peaceful"

Cool :D but it's hard to pull off, cuz aiming is terrible

I wonder what happen to the Fire and Ice Arrows (those were cool!)

zell12 02-26-2003 04:54 AM

you can create 5 arrows +2 using a spell or a prayer, I forget. And you can alchemize poison bolts, fire arrows, ice arrows, arrows +2, etc...

Those still do didley squat in a fight.

Kaiser2 02-26-2003 06:13 AM

you use a skill to make arrows+1, they need to release arrows of accuracy (I need for alchemy ;) ) And Fire and Ice and bolt arrows and stuff would be a cool idea :o

Ranged weaponry doesn't do much on GK, 'cuz you get a penalty on aiming, a limitation on shots fired, and you can't see very far anyway. I was talking to Stefan about how hard it is, he says Monsters don't even see you until you're 15 squares away!
I said...um, but the default screen's only 15, about...

Kaiser2 02-26-2003 09:32 PM

Arrows should be useful against humans as well! I mean come on...Monsters don't heal (most of them at least). But humans can just walk it off in seconds, and they can run fast, so it's hard to hit them in the first place.

Tyhm 02-26-2003 11:30 PM

Maybe they should be faster. It's one thing to lead your foe by 0.1 seconds, another entirely to guess where they'll be in 2.

And no chance of an additional miss. If you successfully nail someone with an arrow, they don't get to roll to see if you hit. You hit, you saw the arrow hit them and the little explosion effect. They might have good armor and take 0 damage, but it didn't ruddy miss!
