What's going on with Graal Messenger?
 

Well nothing at this point =/ I mean it works fully but i have ceased development but will continue development very soon. I have also decided to have Graal Messenger have a seperate account system and not even worry about getting it integrated with the mainstream graal account system.

Anyways I would really like to hear feedback on all ideas and suggestions you have for graal messenger as i know many of you have been flooding me with questions and such on aim.

Planned Features:
Graal Ticker - Scrolls news across top of main graal messenger client.

Graal Media Player - gonna make a built in media player.

Chat Rooms - users can open chatrooms some what like AIM.

Message Holding - If a buddy isnt on you can still send him a message as if he/her were and they will get a flashing indicator when they logon.

Online Status - PHP script you can implement in your site to inform friends your on graal messenger.

SysOps - To keep GIM as peaceful as possible there will be sysops who are staff which will enforce simple rules and also man the support chat room. Angel being one of the first sysops i plan to have a small team of sysops like 4 so we have somone on pretty much all the time.

GIM Buddy Icons, Skins, Smilies - GIM buddy icons, skins and smilies =) make skins for guilds and playerworlds ;)

Message History - text based logging so you can look back and see past convos etc. can be disabled/enabled.

GIM Sounds - customizable GIM sounds for messages and such

GIM Profiles - make yourself a profile if you want so others can get better to know you.

I can volunteer(sp?) my help as sysop if you would like to.

Any sort of file transfer? Also can we have it so only people on our buddy list can see/message us? I really like that feature on aim. Also can you make the stuff like news ticker able to turn on and off. I would prefer not to have that active on mine if possible.

Add small multiplayer games such as checkers and tic tac toe.

Maybe make it so you can have it up and not have graal up? like it can connect to a server and you can be on and not be on graal? I like that.. sometimes I just like to talk and not be on..
so that it could replace aol instant messenger if you just want to talk to graal people..

Ratings like on forums! so everyplayer has a rating just like on forums and would work the same way

I like all of the ideas except ratings. Rating's are so stupid and pointless. Then people would be like: Oh no I pissed you off please dont hurt my score. Plus you would have your butt kissers trying to get it higher. It serves no purposes. Especially if you have a warning system. But the rest I like especially the away box. Ohh and invisible mode! Gotta love that.

make it so graal gold people can be enabled to go into a special room :) like you could look on the forums list and see if they are gold and then they get to go into the graal gold room or something XD

There needs to be chat room Moderators/Admins. I nominate myself. I am worthy of the title.

Yeah there will be a help room where sysops hangout and help people.

Anymore ideas? keep them coming this messenger is for you (the players) so i want it to have everything you guys want it to have aslong as its reasonable ;)

We will have a way to make our own skins? I might be interested in graphical work if so.

Actually, Angel was joking. All SysOps do is assist other users, fix accounts, enforce rules. They have strict rules they will obey aswell.

And as for the skins yeah there will be a layout ill release you can then just redecorate and move to your skins directory.

Among other things i am considering making a plug-in system.

Doesn't matter...Ib still wouldn't use it..ESPECIALLY with Angel being a sysop...

well, this (the last line for some example) is a portion of the reason why -- in my opinion (not that it means much), you act as if you're "better" than everyone in every way that you've even remotely commented on, and I believe that you think people should "look up to you" because of it

I believe that we're ALL very stupid and restricted in this reality -- society judges intelligence mostly on one's resources (e.g. publically available knowledge); just because someone reads and memorizes, doesn't make them intelligent in my opinion

anyway... there've also been a lot of things that you've done that helped create negative trust in me for you, but I won't be specific unless you want to act as if you have no knowledge of these "things" :rolleyes:

How about making passwords more encrypted and harder for hackers to steal first..

Graal messenger uses several layers of security. which i can easily describe here...

A) GIM Client -> B)Transmits Data -> C) Secure Channel -> D)GIM Server

A) GIM Client uses DES (Data Encryption Standard) which is one of the most trusted schemes for secure communication.
B) Data is transferred in a DES format which makes the data being transmitted secure and impossible to decypher without the key which both client and server have hardcoded inside them.
C) Uses DES Standard 64-Bit transmission format.
D) Server also uses DES standard aswell the server stores all information in a RSA encrypted format.

I have also put the following standards down on paper which will be used in handling accounts. Sysops will not have access to private user information such as passwords etc. instead sysops will have access to a control panel where they can instead click a button and send the users password to the registered e-mail. Furthermore sysops will never ask for private user information all they need is your username if that as we will have a web-based Password Retrieval System.

auto update would be great

I am staying away from auto updates but there will be a manual
"check for updates" button under the help pulldown menu. It will download all updated files etc. but i dont really feel auto updates makes most people feel secure. :P

Hackers steal your saved passwords, how about having saving the password as an option, instead of a given like in Graal.

Im sure a number of people will have them stolen anyway, not that it really matters.
