Sueable Offence?

Is it possible to sue some-one for making a server which has the same idea as a server yet not levels, gfx or NPCs look the same?

If no tell Chrisz =/

Millenium has 2 Owners (Me and Crystal).
I live in Britain and Crystal lives in America, Chrisz lives in Scotland. For a start I don't think Chrisz could afford the money to get a lawyer in America, and what evidence does he have? Especially if the reason is "Copywrite". And i thought u needed a document to say u rnt allowed to Copywrite something. Not like we did or nething.

And Chrisz, if this "threat" was just to try and scare us, u may have scared our Co-Owner (and maybe ET Admin) into quitting, but unless i get a certain e-mail confirming it being possible, then u wont scare me or Crystal from getting our server up. Good try none-the-less. :)

It's only legal as far as I can see if they copyrighted the idea itself.

Spark910 02-18-2003 10:20 PM

And if HE sues you, doesn't mean he goes over THERE. YOU get 'summoned' to court, if someone makes an alligation against you so you'd come here.

ALSO may I add it costs $200+ a month to copyright a 500pg website, and so copyrighting all of them images and levels would cost too much.

You cannot copyright something until it is published on a site or onto graal when accepted as a Playerworld. The site host gets so much money for setting up your account and stuff, then so much for bandwith you use for your site, then the rest is probably for the copyright titles. Graal does the same thing, only when you submit a PW project to them, and they accept it, it is then theres, and you just manage it....

No, Chrisz won't sue you, he have no right.

You can't copyright a graal playerworld since it does not belong to you when it's online.

But everyone will take it as a Era-Rip, so you lost this time...

And i were talking to Angel when she was revewing it, she showed me some screens... and you kinda... stole Era's tileset...

But thats my thaughts.

As far as I know, everything that gets published on Graal, becomes property of Graal. (Except for things that are already under copyright, but that's why they get removed. ) So in essence, he really doesn't have the right to sue another playerworld owner. Of course, I could be wrong, this is just what I've gathered.

SSJ4_Vegetto 02-19-2003 12:33 AM

He can't sue me if he hasn't got ne copywrite documents.

Once he gives me the claims of the copywrite im breaking then i'll pass it onto my soliciter.

zell12 02-19-2003 01:38 AM

Erm, if you cannot copyright your documents, levels, graphics, etc... Than he could use them and claim them his. hehe

My god

Stupid little children will not sue over online games. That's horribly pathetic. I cannot believe they'd spend their monatery and personal resources to fight a stupid battle that will end up making absolutely no difference at all

I wish idiots like this Chrisz would grow up.

zell12 02-19-2003 02:16 AM

It would cose them more money for a lawer than for the cose of the things made. hehe

You'd both be sued because someone owns 'Millenium' as a copyright. And they got plenty of settlements around 1999 too, or so I hear ;D

Case was already closed. They lost.

A court of law shouldn't be necessary.

Ever heard of the Playerworld Administration?

If a project actually gets up and it contains plagiarized material, you contact Angel, not your lawyer. For one thing, Angel does her work pro bono.

You can't copyright a name, a name gets trademarked.

Falados 02-19-2003 03:42 AM

And you cant copyright an idea.
