Ship Cannons

Maybe they should be like the land cannon (except they are mounted)

You can aim straight or slightly diagnol with key movement or something, and you should be able to store cannonballs in them lke regular cannons- That way not as much ammunition is wasted and it makes for more interesting/better ship battles. Not to mention it encourages the use of a crew.

Having to carry the cannonballs makes for Bad RPing because no sailor is going to lug around 250 cannonballs on his back, theyd be at the cannon already.

No they would be on the ship... and they would be in a pyramid next to the cannon. If they all were in the cannon then you'd be shooting out 250 cannon balls at one time.

GET OVER THE DAMN SHIPS AND MOVE ON WITH YOUR LIVES

At least someway to have the ready, a stack like yousaid is ok too, we can't do that currently because you can set item on the deck of a ship, if some NPC makes them go there like that it'd work, but whatever, the holding cannonballs is not the main thing, I just thing the cannons should be able to shoot slightly diagonal (not too far or it's unrealistic)

Ship cannons back in that era (let's say Graal ships are the same as when the Spanish had naval superiority) were not TOTALLY stationary

Um, theyre not boring, and it's actually the main thing that has to do with my RPing. You don't like ship battles? Then go get some ideas for improving hand to hand combat, don't get angry for new ship ideas that are meant to only improve the game

..If only it was that easy :whatever:

I like naval warfare. Mostly because I'm canny enough to take out a stronger crewed ship solo. ^_~

JrTerrorist 01-22-2003 03:36 AM

O_o;;
Zormite = Navy Guys

You can store the cannonballs in the cargo room of the ship, but the aiming should be like with the land cannons thats right

JrTerrorist 01-22-2003 04:53 AM

HOoray!
Improved ship cannons :D

Jasen 01-22-2003 07:45 PM

uhh...

Ya know... they had the cannons on the lower deck of ships back in the spanish dayz or whatever. There should be a way to have the cannons down there with all the ammo somehow....... I want pie. Who has pie!? :(

That's the main reason I posted the thread :D
The cannonballs in cargo room is no big deal, just had another idea for them to be ontop when I was typing this, but I suppose it's better in cargo ;)

Tyhm 01-23-2003 06:19 AM

Heh. There should be an infinite pile in the cargo room, but you can only carry one at a time. So one guy fires the cannon, the other reloads...

Ehrm... if you had all stations manned, that would require a crew of 7... big crew....
Plus to Zormite Navy has already produced thousands of surplus cannon balls for reloading and ship production so it would be a waste ;o

JrTerrorist 01-23-2003 08:31 AM

Zormy's got lotsa ships, lotsa balls, and lotsa cannons.. XD

Not anymore :( Someone stole all of them out of our ships in the shipyard, we only have about two or three thousand left

Tyhm 01-24-2003 08:46 AM

Funny; you stock the kingdom with powerful thieves and brigands like Thanatos, then find you can't trust your kingdom members not to steal everything from your kingdom-only areas.

Juron Pilo 01-25-2003 06:58 AM

tell me why over 75% of graal is obtaining supplies(food, health, magic, weapon ammo, ship materials, money, materials for house repairs, waiting for shop reloads) and not fighting? do you realize how many things that are completely irrelevant to the fights themselfs we have to deal with? Then when we fight theres not much in the way of tracking your progression(leveling? when does that happen?) and its most likely you'll die withing a relatively short amount of time.

add cannonballs... I woln't be helping with those.
