A Restart?

Should Graal Kingdoms get a Restart? I believe so and this is why.

At the very start nothing was balanced. Which means that if you was a sorc at the start then it was bad (there were no dugeons) but if you was a Warrior then it was good. So you got more exp more often than the sorcs.

Then the dugeons came out. It was a place where level 1 sorcs could skyrocket in exp by standing in the halls of the dugeon. Leaving the Melee people in the dust. This is how it still stands.

There were people who wanted the class of thief, but since it sucked so bad noone went to it. So the class of thief would be completed and there is no point in a level 12 warrior to restart to be a thief again. So if we restart then you can chose the class that YOU want, not the one with the best stats. Because if they are all balanced then you wont choose because of stats, but you'll choose because of your tastes.

Lets admit it guys... there are TONS of bugs on Graal Kingdoms. Some that let you get exp, money, and even free stuff. You dont want to tell Stefan because it gives you an advantage over everyone. But abusing a bug and not telling an admin could mean a reset, probation, or even banishment. And we all have used atleast one bug and you cant come on here and go "I havn't abused a bug ever" because you have.

A new balance would be made between items and money probally. Which would mean that since there is a reset, the prices might go down a little bit. So it would be good because it would mean less work for the items you've always wanted.

Last night I read Koni's post on how to fix the server, and it is true. That stuff needs to be changed. So if we have the reset then all of that would be done. It means that you would have a chance in tournys, there would be a money balance, level 10s wouldn't own the server, etc.

There are many more things I can point out but I cant remember them right now :p, and You dont have to post
"NO I H8 U ZURK CUZ I WREKED 2 GET 2 LVL2350 AND I ANT DONG DIS"
or
"If you do this then I will quit Graal Forever"

because I know that the majority of you will say this because you abused a bug to get to level 45 and you're the owner of the universe.

BlKnight 01-02-2003 11:59 AM

Definatly not. Everything is perfectly balanced as it is.

I worked months getting the items I have now, I'm not about to loose them all, work months again, and loose them all again when the final server comes out.

If there is a reset of any sort before the finak server, I quit.

ROTLMAO.

12 levels 1s can't even TOUCH a level 10. That's NOT balance.
Spells can hit everything and kil anybody nearby. That's NOT balance.
Buying bread from the store costs 200 platinum, sell it and you get 2. That's NOT balance.
Untill there IS balance, I am not touching this game with a 10 foot pole.

billybob53 01-02-2003 12:53 PM

Resets always lose massive amounts of players.

_0AfTeRsHoCk0_ 01-02-2003 02:41 PM

Stefan already said there will not be a reset, but he also said (or Unixmad did) that there will be a final version of Graal kingdoms released. Obviously, everyone wants to play the balanced, finished product. The people will slowly migrate to that server anyways, so it's really up to you as to what you do now.

They could, not very often.
But for christ sake thats because the level 10 is.....wait I know this might be hard to understand....10 levels higher!
If you've ever watched the tournaments for the 1-3 levels, they drag on for hours because they even have trouble hitting each other.

10 - 1 doesn't = 10. They're 9 levels higher.

Okay, if 12 untrained army people go against a trained army person, who should win? 12 is a LOT more then 1. They should be able to overtake that trained army person. But guess what? In graal, they can't.

BlKnight 01-02-2003 03:28 PM

Why should 100000 level 1's be able to kill 1 level 10?

Why don't they just get to level 10 themselves?

It's not that hard.

Kaimetsu 01-02-2003 03:34 PM

In every popular MMORPG, ten level x characters will be powerless against one level 10*x. That's how character progression works, yo. Clearly it doesn't much bother Everquest's 400,000 subscribers.

Admins 01-02-2003 03:43 PM

Someone with good armour and experience can easily kill 10 times the people if those only have plain stuff and are not trained, at least in the medieval times they did.

BlKnight 01-02-2003 03:51 PM

Yeah, seriously what do you expect? Lower the benefits of leveling?

Then you will complain that you put in 5 hours of work to become level 10 and you have like twice as much hp and stuff as level 1's.

brock128 01-02-2003 06:13 PM

When the heck will Kingdoms stop trying to copy other MMORPGS? I liked graal for graal, not for some bad MMORPG wannabe.

-_-

Kingdoms has a levelling system. Should they take it out just because other MMORPGs have similar features? Should they take out swords? Humans? Should they decide that keyboard control is just copying Everquest and have the player control the character by shouting different frequencies and amplitudes of sound into their microphones? There's a point where you need to draw the line between plagiarism and conformation to RPG traditions.

RPG traditions are really getting old. FFX's sphere grid system was unique, I like FFX. Kingdom Heart's action-based system is more challanging, I like KH. Graal Kingdoms is just your adverage "level up and kill stuff" system. I don't like Graal Kingdoms.

That doesn't make it a bad game. GTA:VC is one of the most successful games ever yet (believe it or not) some people don't like it!

You don't like GK. Fine. There are plenty of people who do.

BlKnight 01-02-2003 08:17 PM

Exactly, the game is liked because of what it is now, a regular rpg game with actual rp elements blended in with classic graal.

If you are looking for something else (ie action based rpgs) you should just go play another game.

brock128 01-02-2003 11:14 PM

God forbid I signed up for graal to play GRAAL! Oh no! That's a crime!

Listen, I want what I payed for, I don't want some wannabe. These people who enjoy it either powergame to be on the top, and kill everything in their way, or are blinded by the fact that they don't know any better games. Very few people take it for what it really is, unbalanced.

Uh, hi? If you signed up to play GK then play it. If not, then play Bomy Moon or whatever. Graal is what Graal is, yeah? It's pretty much tautological. If you have now found that you don't like Graal then I guess you've wasted some cash, but that's not Graal's fault. Maybe you should've checked what you were paying for before you paid for it.

I do play Bomy Moon, but nobody's on, so it's not very fun, is it? I wanted graal TO PLAY GRAAL. I don't want kingdoms.

Then DON'T PLAY KINGDOMS. WOW. SOMEBODY GIVE ME A NOBEL PRIZE!

Graal doesn't revolve around you. You signed up to a game that you don't like. Live with it, and don't expect the game designers to change their entire world at your whim.

BlKnight 01-02-2003 11:56 PM

It seems that most people want to play Kingdoms. What do you want? People to play on a server that they don't like to ammuse you?

brock128 01-03-2003 02:01 PM

Am I talking to myself? The people that play kingdoms are either powergamers that are level 10 and beat up everything, and have everything, or people who don't have anything better to play (which is a lie.)

Once upon a time, graal was a successful game, with 300 players peak. Now it's not. THE END.

Graal made it to 600 players yesterday :]

No, you're just being stupid. If you can conclusively show that GK would have more players if it made your changes then fine, you're entitled to the opinion. If you're merely using egocentric delusions to justify the belief that you should get whatever you want then you should just go away. Graal had 300 players before, sure, but then they started charging progressively more to play them game. It's hardly surprising that the player count fell, but the profits undoubtedly rose.

BlKnight 01-03-2003 04:36 PM

Gaah. So what do you want? The power players banned? Tell us exactly what you want not just be *****y and complain generally about the server.

I have to side with them on this round...

Lets see what Graal exactly is: (Fairy Tale Form :) )

Graal is a game that can be customised and modified. The very gameplay couldn't exist without the players and the ability to tile, script, or color. For years, players have been volenteering to be staffers and most have gotten it.

Since Graal can be modified, some people got together and said, "HEY U WENT 2 MAK A SRVER?" and it was so. The first server other than Graal Main Server (Classic) was started. When that server came about, five or six more popped out. Some died, and some still live on today.

Then the ownership thought to themselves one day and said... "Hey! Lets make the most 1337 server and charge for it... maybe some people will come by and we can pay for this server". And it was so. The most 1337 server came out called Graal 2001. Graal Classic was full of riot and unrest for many days. But people started to pay for it. Then Graal 2002 came out and everyone left Graal 2001 to go play on a better server. This was the long awaited server for all of the RPers on 2k1. They couldn't wait for it to come and it was here.

Then Larrien married Kawaii and they lived happly ever after, untill war beseeched their island.
------------------------
What I'm trying to say is that since Graal can be modified... you can play on a differnt server :p... Why did I add everything else? Because I was on a roll.
