New tileset, well kind of.

Ok, now firstly let me explain what I've done.
I was thinking about tilesets and I looked at the default Graal tileset and realised that there wasn't much wrong with it. Only that it needed to be developed upon. I am only doing this in my spare time, or just to fill in time, so heres my idea. What I have done so far is firstly I replaced the new house with the old one, because personally I think it looks much better. The one problem with the tileset is there is a limited amount of bits to use. So what I propose to do, and have started doing already, is to use the tileset as a starter, but develope more on to it. What I mean is using the same style make a lot more variation in the pieces. I have posted an example with the house tiles, I made some more variations of the windows. I want to make about 2 tilesets, one a summer, the other a winter version. I want to make heaps on variation on the tiles, say like 5 different doors, 10 different windows, and 5 different chimneys. Stuff like that. Also I want to make all the tiles so they can go on different surfaces, like some of the tiles have little bits of grass around them, I will make it so they can go on grass, water and desert tiles, so it looks like they fit in. So anyone just post your opinion and any comments about the house tiles so far, thanks. Also, do people think this would be good for a server, or would you just complain that its nothing new, and I am too lazy to make my own tileset? |
This looks really cool..... and don't take this the wrong way, I'm NOT accusing you of copying anything or anybody.... but how much did you look at certain SNES games while making this? :) Probably none, but it really brings back that old Z feel.... it's cool!

Well thats what I kind of want to to, keeping all the style and feel of the Zelda games, which is where the tileset came from in the first place, and just develope and expand upon it.

It looks really good, but they got rid of that for a reason, it looked too much like Zelda, so they may not allow it.

Haven't been around long enough, huh? The original Graal..... let's just say it had a distinct resemblance to an old popular console game. Then it evolved into the tileset you took the houses from, but that was still a bit too much like that old game, so now we have the newest tileset. And....... I don't know where Graal admins draw the line, but your tiles -might- be a bit too Zelda-y.

Maybe redo the tops in like shingles or something and do the walls in wood or gray stones :) or hrmm you could even make a window with a curtain behind it ;) looks good

Ok, heres an update on the tileset. I've decided against my first idea with using the zelda style as it will probably cause too many complications. This is also posted for Aylad so he can see the roof tiles which I have created from looking at his ones, though they are slightly different. I've just asked his permission to use them and he wanted to have a look at them first so here they are.

I'm not to fond of the walls, they're okay though, but the window I really like.
Grass also looks great, especially with the two different shades. Although you are gonna have to make rounded edges for shade change and not just use the square tile. :) |

Hey, that's cool. No prob, use them if you want. :) I just wanted to make sure it was more than just a slight change of tint. I like the house design, though.
