Remove the meanness
You spend hours and hours getting lots of platinum coins.
After lots of work you happily go over to the shop. You see just what you want so you quickly snap it up. There goes all your money but now you have the spellbook youve been after for weeks. You read the book.... "You failed to learn the spell" AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH Once youve finished screaming you are then depressed and feel you have completely wasted your time. |
It would be much more equitable if when failing to read it, it did not destroy. Since there is apparently no element of random involved, only your stats (otherwise I would have learned piety at least ONCE!), if you can't learn it at level 1, you can sell it or keep it until you can learn it.

2k2 has a habbit of pissing everyone off rather than making fun gameplay =P heh |
Maybe making spells like recipes... This books i beyond your comprention and crap. :P They should maybe allow you to learn it 2 or 3 levels below the level or the spell. Like i have lemme see... like 5 or 6 lv 13 spells/prayer i'll probably never use...
I agree. but the level of the spell corrisponds to casting, dosen't it?
Yea the magic level needed to cast it so why not use it for learning too? It's not like they are going to be casting it soon if they learn a lv 13 spell at lv 1, they will get LOADS of mental exp though :P
People, people. This is an AD&D concept. It's supposed to be horribly badly designed.
Don't try. This was the first thing I ever posted about, and nothing got done. You're wasting your time.
its fine, leave it. if everyone could do crap like that, 2k2 would end up like gbm, some people sooo powerful and yet others so low class they do not ant to play, that is life, deal with it kthnx
its fine... just take off the book destroying itself if you fail the spell
No, that would be so lame. Intelligence would be pointless and everyone would have a million spells.
Maybe if you have money to burn, but we (generally speaking) do not.
