I use mostly Paint Shop Pro for my graphics.

why not just right "Derrick" why an image

Because graphics enhance many things, and just straight text would be rather boring.

Because images:

a) Can better convey a person's personality (although it's debatable whether this can extend to the practice of asking another person to make your sig for you). And...

b) Are nicer to look at. Your name already appears at the top of your post anyway.

i dont think any of the images for news posts "convey" any personal traits...

Well, that's debatable. If nothing else, it's a style thing and we have to allow our admins some measure of self-indulgence.
