Forum Moderator

What do you guys think, considering Graal2001_Lat has left, god rest his soul.

1.) Should we even have a MOD?
2.) Whom should that MOD be?

SupermanJR 11-30-2002 10:18 PM

Not that what we say will matter.. BUT..
--
1. Yep.
2. You... Lol.

Timpan3 11-30-2002 10:18 PM

Depends, does the forum NEED a MOD? If so, I think everyone will turn selfish all of a sudden.

syltburk 11-30-2002 10:42 PM

1)Yes for helping editors (stickys) and such.
2) Me

Spark910 12-01-2002 12:02 AM

Well we do need one for people who put posts in wrong places, spam, etc.. But an Admin on forums could do it, but maybe we should just have a seperate one, then that person can do a good job, as the Admins are often busy with other things to be MODing.

Cid_Night 12-01-2002 12:07 AM

1)Yes
2) Yes, but I don't think it should be a forum admin. It should be a Level Editor by trade who knows whats going on and can do stuff like hold contests (i.e. Bird Bird's contest waaaaaay back when)

--Chris-- 12-01-2002 12:11 AM

It should be neither of you. The closest thing to graal_2001 lat is zell12 (excalibir) since he works as an lat on 2k1 under graal_2001 lat who is now gone.

1. That wasn't an opinion.. At all. It was a statment. "ME" isn't an opinion.
2. I was pretty much joking; the fact that the chances of ANY of us becoming Levels Forum Mod is Slim to None.. and "Slim just left".
3. Bird Bird is still around, but he wouldn't do the Forum things.
4. You insult me with out any reason; You're a fool.

1. It is, he thinks he would make the best moderator, and that is his opinon.

2. Just no.

3. Ok nice

4. I "insult" you because you constantly reply to Jaffer with your own insults or negative compliments, so no, I am not a fool, don't push it.

Zell12 is good.. But he isn't amazingly Fantastic. The fact that he works for 2k1 now doesn't mean much. The popularity of the 2001 has gone down.. a whole lot.. I don't imagine it being so hard to become a LAT there. Don't get me wrong, I KNOW Excalibur is good.. but the issue is not with level quality. He doesn't post here much, so why sould he become it? Spark rates levels fairly, post his levels, and actually HAS morals. I'm all for sparks if we have to have one.

Thats actually the only time i've 'insulted' him as you put it.. As you said, "*****" Ditto for you, bud..Now this is off topic. If you want to discuss this with me, unblock me you bligerant idiot..

I won't , this will be my last post regarding this. If you were observant enough to remember your own posts, you will see that you've done this quite a few times, like saying "rofl.. like you're the one to talk" when he rates a level for instance, stop trying to argue a fact, it is pointless.

I will stop here, even if he continues, and if he does, well, I don't care I guess.

Spark910 12-01-2002 12:37 AM

Yeah zell is good, but hes not on forums much and alot of other people rate and give advise more than him.

What kind of qualities should this moderator have? I mean, good levels doesn't help anyway in managing a thread, does it? So you're probably right, Spark :).

Spark910 12-01-2002 12:48 AM

It half helps, as you wouldn't put someone who couldn't script as MOD on scripting, if the person knows about it then they can atleast give out advise.

MOD needs:

To Be Honest
Not Flip Out When Being Flammed (Players always flame MODs)
Post alot
Be on so they can do there job
Know where posts should go

Cant think of much else.

You've got a point, but the other qualities are equally as important. I would probably vote for Spark, but I haven't been around to notice everyone , really.

--Chris-- 12-01-2002 02:06 AM

A mods job is not to rate levels nor make good levels. His skill in levels have nothing to do with it. All he needs is being able to distinguish spam and vulgar threads etc which shouldn't be too hard unless you aren't very smart. Also, graal2001_lat moderated for the gani section of the forums. Does he make ganis.....nope. The only gani team on an official graal server (meaning 2k1 etc) are me and Karsh and neither of us mod that forum.

Exactly, although it's nice to have someone who does do levels.
And they don't even have to post a lot here, as long as they look on the forums a lot. Not to suggest me or whatever, but I tend to not post a lot but browse the forums constantly.
Also, zell12 (Excalibur) is not staff on Bomy Moon anymore, he was fired or quit along time ago. The current level makers (strictly) on Bomy Moon are me and Lamer, who I don't see too much.
And if they don't make one that's fine, Koni etc. are around enough to moderate it.

Well this fourm doesn't really get too much traffic.
Kai and Aftershock seem to keep it in shape.

Ya that's what I meant 2 posts ago, with Koni etc... well either way really, whatever they decide :p.

Thak2 12-01-2002 02:37 AM

If a new moderator is needed, I say Spark should be it.

My vote would go to Shadowless, but he left levelmaking. :[

Anyways, Spark posts often enough, and gives very helpful and detailed critiques of levels posted.

Spark910 12-01-2002 02:49 AM

Thanks =)
Well If I was ever offered it, I would take it. Yeah suppose im on quite often and posting.

You, along with AlexH (just a crazy observation) seems to be online all the time, so you'd be a good candidate, but I don't think the thread will change anything, I think Stefan (or someone elsE) will just pick someone they trust.

Yes, but you are still on alot, I wasn't relating you towards the GLE forums.

Cid_Night 12-01-2002 03:30 AM

I think this forum gets quite a bit of traffic, enough to have a mod. But, ya, I heard koni was fired...just curious if neone knows why?

AlexH 12-01-2002 03:39 AM

Well I doubt any new mods are gonna be appointed anytime soon.
the only people that can do it are Galen, Stefan and Unix and well the only one who is somewhat active is Stefan but he has more important things to worry about.

Timpan3 12-01-2002 04:55 AM

Even so, choosing is moderator could prove to be quite usefull, so maybe he will.

Spark910 12-01-2002 07:19 PM

We will just have to wait :asleep: and see :megaeek: if someone decided to hire a forum MOD :D .

I hope there gets to be two MODs at this place, because then, 1 more person will be happy over their new job, as I would have been.

Spark910 12-02-2002 01:11 AM

I doubt they will hire 2 but you never know.

Waltz5 12-02-2002 01:47 AM

This forum doesn't need two, just as long as they hire someone who browse's a lot.

Timpan3 12-02-2002 01:50 AM

Maybe not, but maybe they won't even hire 1 , and that, is NOT good :/.

Not really, has there been tons of problems in the Graal Level Editing Forums?? No, and anything that was in the wrong forum was moved relatively quickly. It's not a must, but it would certainly help.

There is no forum where there is "tons of problems" (I'm positive) , just because there ARE moderators constantly checking on their respective forums. So instead of having admins doing jobs not meant withing their job plan, they should just hire a moderator to take care of this forum.
