GraalOffline

I started playing graal at something with 1 .beta version, when there was only 1 body and head and they were one big file. And over time theings have gotten better, lighting effects thousands of heads and ganis, but my favorite part, OFFLINE MULTIPLAYER was taken out, what i did mostly in graal was make my own offline games to share with my family and friends, and now i cant, its only 1 player and no save feature. If someone can make a script for saving it would be greatly appreciated but my major question is. WHY?!?! why wre such great things removed??? I understand that this is a massive multi online game, but I like it offline, in private where no okers or having to get my server approved, I make my own action adventure games and really want to be able to play them with my freinds, so please someone help me out here

At leats state your opinion on the matter!

Like v.1.28 had mutiplayer. Like 3 people could play at once.. Like one person used the keys q,w,e,d and someone else used i,j,k,l and the other the arrow keys.. Something like that. I forgot. Its been a while since then. :megaeek:

Edit: oh yea.. the screen would be divided into parts for each player. Like player 1 would have his/her own screen.. etc.. :)

ByblosHex 11-20-2002 10:06 AM

yeah like that, and you could save with F5! i loved that, i want to know why it was removed and i want to request that it is put back in, 2 people could ride a single horse and carry eachother! Anyone remember those good ole days?

LilNiglet 11-20-2002 10:11 AM

that is scriptable, sorta.

ByblosHex 11-20-2002 10:13 AM

IT IS???? how plz tell me plz

Googi 11-20-2002 10:40 AM

Because well that may have been removed, the keydown command was added ;).

I highly doubt that it would work for F5 though, but it would be possible to make NPC's which could be controlled by the player using keydown and some NPC commands, so that you could control them.

Aknts 11-20-2002 10:43 AM

I remember me and my friend would play soccer.

haha, nevermind then.. i was gonna try and script it. ::shrug::

Crovax_Dark_Lord 11-21-2002 01:11 AM

I still have a copy of 1.25 on my laptop somewhere... I made an entire server on it, in the old scripting code and level format... since 2k2 my scripting abilitys have fallen lax though...

ByblosHex 11-21-2002 03:02 AM

I am an exceptional scriptor (my work can be found on Renegade).
And earlier the F5 button was used to save. but for some unknown reason Stefan had it removed, That npc thing is a good idea but, my specialtys are sytems npcs and graphix, im no good at stuff like that or spelling. :D

Kuza 11-21-2002 04:05 AM

you need a LAN connection play, that's the only way to do it "legally" through Stefan's eyes at least.

It was removed due to a glitch where you could make NPCs (only seen by you) in levels on the game so you could get items and such.

Anyways Graal multiplayer was good but it was a little crowded with 4 players.
2 was okay but I didn't like it anymore than that.
Personally I don't really want to see offline multiplayer back but offline saving would be usefull for some things.
Mainly for people making a server which has a complex storyline which saves lots of flags and strings etc.

aylad 11-21-2002 11:22 PM

Stefan, could you bring back offline saving? We'd all worship you forever....... :D Please?

Timpan3 11-22-2002 03:25 AM

Yes, I don't see why there is no offline saving option, because some people (like Aylad) likes to make offline quests, and a save function would be greatly usefull for those kind of things.

LOL. OLDBIE. LOL.

I'd sure hate to see your spelling back then.

Back on subject, I have a few things to tell you:

1.) "beta .1?" What the hell are you talking about?
2.) Offline multiplayer wasn't available in Zelda Online, if I remember correctly.
3.) There was no offline save feature. Ever. (Well, that worked right. Haha. ;))

LOL. IDIOT. LOL. :)

Anyway, I think I'd like the offline multiplayer. A few years ago (1.28 or later, I don't remember.) a friend came over to my house, and he had never played Graal before. I was trying to spar him. Haha. I think the offline thing should have a few quests for people wanting to try Graal instead of just buying p2p. Save features? Yes, please. The Classic trial is alright, but it doesn't allow the server to save trial accounts. That'd be bad if someone has only maybe 10 minutes or so to play. :(

Actually, two of my friends want to play Graal, but don't know if the money is worth it. I can't give them my opinion. I have to let them see for themselves. >_>

LAST THING:

By Stefan's "Hmm," I believe he meant:

IDIOT. LOL. LOL. LOL. :)

ShadowStrike2k1 11-22-2002 07:03 PM

Eat am be cool to have offline multiplayer

in a game like this, spelling errors would increase untill your brain turned into some sort of italian food... sold on the streets and eaten by stupid americans... who's minds are close to that point already...

its the circle of graal, a mind numbing never ending cycle...

eat it while you can .... *fades into the shadows*

Com013 11-22-2002 11:09 PM

I think bringing back the offline multiplayer would be quite hard, but I can't see the problem with offline saving.

Neonight, what are you talking about? Of course there was an offline save feature. I don't know whether it was working when playing multiplayer, but it worked when there was just one player.
(I am only talking about something before version 1.28, which is the only "old" version I have ever seen (except Java Zelda). I myself could be called a newbie by some others here).

My grammar skills improved greatly. I got tired of the "dude u need to die" stuff, so now I actually type correctly.

Anyway, Com:

Apparently you missed the parenthesis. (whatever >_>)
Like it was said earlier, the offline save feature was buggy. It just messed up the flags and such, so you basically had to edit your flags or start over.

ByblosHex 11-23-2002 06:53 AM

Bad spelling does not make one an idoit. But bieng an idot does. There was a beta version which was NOT zelda online. and there WAS a save feature. If the save feature caused online problems youd think it would be fixable, removing it alltogether didnt fix it. I like Aylad's offline games and those good ole Jedi Knight peoples too, Im glad Stefan at least read my post. Well Stefan if you dare read it again send me an email at [email protected] telling me why you took it out.

The way you spelled didn't make you an idiot. The way you acted made you an idiot. I don't know if you're talking about the save feature where you pressed one of the Function keys or the one where you got a password and resumed online and single player with that password.

ByblosHex 11-23-2002 12:01 PM

The subject is graal ofline. which is only graal online. no log on password or whatever, just graal offline and save feature, i want to know why it was removed completely that is all

Well my guess is to encourage people to play online/buy an account, because someone could download the Graal Client and find a site where they could download some levels and just play that.

What would be so bad about that? Offline it isn't nearly as interesting as online and when some people are playing offline it wouldn't hurt much. Sooner or later they'd pay anyway.

baywatch1 11-26-2002 02:24 AM

yeah it was really cool to play offline with 2-4 players! it was great the footballl place and all! but you onle need graal1.4 to play offline again!why dont you get it and play!

PFI_Shaggy 11-30-2002 11:32 PM

I am also trying to figure out a way to make saving in an offline game again, I also remeber when 2 player was allowed. That is when i also started playing, although i never played, i built.

After a while i lost that computer due to a storm.

I have now just built a brand new spanking computer and for some odd reason i have come back to play Graal, although i see differnt things, so i am now making an RPG, single player, offline game. :asleep:

ByblosHex 12-03-2002 04:14 AM

Come on Stefan...... well the thing about you losing buiseness is a good point and all but i love it all soo much and i cant go back to the ole 1.4 cause theres no lights or anything, no mouse nothing. Graal Offline was the best, yes online is good and i play it regularly but i also like ot make my own offline rpgs and play them too, and i cant because theres no save feature, maybe multiplayer is too much but im sure the save feature wouldnt be to hard, I bet you could even make an npc like that, an npc that recoreds all your flags and inventory and makes it into a .txt file, how does that sound?

RPG Maker

Anyways Graal is a MMORPG, working on an offline version would be kinda pointless.
The online version is far more important and with Graal Kingdoms still in heavy development I doubt anything else that wold be a big project will be worked on any time soon.
