Battle Mode!!!

Someone needs to make spells not hurt the caster in battlemode... right now wizardry in whole is almost useless in battle mode. I cast create bomb and run... then the baddies follow me... then they all don't die and i get hit one time while running away from it...

:grrr: :grrr: :grrr:

In real life, if you were to throw a bomb... most likely it would harm you if it hit you.

I guess you could think of it as a Warrior - Mage balance or something.

There is a way to fix that... go out of battle mode :)

Well lets see...

Well lets see here.... if you use flaming aura which is alot worse you don't get harmed what so ever... so either make all prayers and spells harm the caster and other people if they are supposed to cause harm, or make them all not harm the caster.

In real life if you died you would just pop up in a restart position, in real life if you don't see potatoes and mushrooms attacking people, etc...

This is not Real Life, this is FANTASY. (Thanks Aftershock for finally getting that in his head). Anything can happen. You can seee pigs fly. Ducks with laster beams on their head. Whatever stefan creates.
I think that an Aura, which is actually like a light or something that surrounds you, should not hurt you since it is surround you ;-(
Umm... I just think that battle mode is the risk mode, you want the exp, you risk your own. Simple.
Mabey the magi' are getting picked on alot now, and its really unbananced. But, what can you do...

ReaperJ 11-10-2002 11:41 PM

i dont see it as unbalanced

the mages rack up exp like crazy with their spells, im glad they hurt you (not a suprise they hurt you when you are off peaceful and in the arenas as well)

Selzar 11-11-2002 08:01 AM

nah

mages shouldnt be hurt by there own spells, anyways there gonna make it so mages wont be so great, theyll need spell components for spells so it will limit the spells they use ,when they run out of components theyll have to run off to the Mage Shop and buy some more

#1. You're supposed to die... otherwise why cant we just stand in the dugeons AFK without dying?

#2. You're supposed to respawn. But lets just pretend that we recreated Graal. If you didn't respawn, then you'd have to restart. Therefore making it so that you can never reach the level of two.

Damn, I hope components aren't expensive, or I'm going to have to start charging for my skills:\ and I won't be able to cast Dex on myself to get from point A to B faster :\

Pyrolefire 11-11-2002 10:24 AM

Components?

Componentes :p Thats so D&D LOL
Anyway, is funny cause i was reading a book that says: "People is never comfortable with what it have", well not only a book say that. The point is, if they put component, they will say "STEFAN READ THIS PLZ!!! GET COMPONENTS OUT!!!"
Just accept the system you have you will get used to it :P
Well thats just MY Opinion, cause i think that most of the things of graal are just fine right now.
Again MY Opinion, and i dont care if you think is Stupid

Selzar 11-11-2002 03:36 PM

...

no components is a good idea... in all tv shows and all rpg like stuff they use components to cast a spell... there just trying to balance out the system for mages ... we dont want mages to be godly

Psch. Lord of the Rings, Sword of Truth, AD&D, the Shannara series, all the popular fantasy works put wizards as powerful killers, not herbalists. Whether reagents are good from a game design standpoint is another matter, and one on which I am not yet decided.

TerrorBite 11-11-2002 07:43 PM

bah components ... that sounds like ALCHEMY!.... >_>

Pyrolefire 11-12-2002 01:42 AM

Excelent point

Excellent point TerrorBite :D

I have read that other MMORPGs have used them before. These other games (although not nearly as fun as Graal :D ) seem to have been wildly popular. Wouldn't know, never played them myself. Too expensive. And Graal is all I need.
