New options in level editor for tiles.
I was thinking of making it like RPGMaker. Like you can select a mode with the tiles so you can edit if they can be walked on, or solid using 'X' and 'O'. And, make a title bar the the prefrences tab so you can type the name of the file you want to use for tiles. Like Pics1.png is the default. You can use like, your own tileset. o.O
Somehow making it so that it updates the arrays.dat with it everytime there is an update to the tiles. :) This will elminate the use of settiledef for making large amounts of tiles or so you can just have your own custom made tileset, like for Oasis and Era. |
And instead of making the god damn npcs like on Graal2002 that lag the server. Why not add the houses and stuff to the tileset. Then you can make it "appear over player" or "appear below player". Not just "X" and "O", 1 and 2.

Then he should make it so that the images are not as laggy and are not re loading every time you enter a new level.

Part of that "lag" is graphical latency because most of the "solid" objects on 2k2 are ganis using showimg. Too many showimgs will create a noticable slowdown...I discovered this myself when I made my new trees using ganis and the showimg script abilities recently. I thought it was because of all the shadows I had, but nope, it was the large amount of showimgs on and off screen.

What can be done to prevent that?

Not really. The flameing Aura used the burning hands GFX before, and its only a few animated cubes of fire; they lagged alot. Not it used tiny bits of fire like from a fire ball or such, and it lags less.

Mngs don't buffer right yet, so a lot of those will, in fact, suck. I believe the same was true of anigifs. |
Well Stefan should make all the GFX on Graal Kingdoms the correct img. And make it so that it checks if you have the GFX needed so its not constantly updating. =/
Or mabey allow players to load ALL the levels before you play it so there is not loading when entering a level. Like, all the levels on one map, so to say. |

Then do a Diablo type game setup, it has everything loaded and doesn't lag at all.

Doesn't take hours. Look at Diablo, it takes a minute.
