RC updates please.

Current bugs

1) Comments window is currently randomly deleting itself, removing all archival methods of keeping accounts in check.

2) You cannot be in guildcode when you sign on or the RC/game doesn't recognize you as being in it, you have to switch repeatedly off guildcode and on to even get on a staff tag.

3) Addition of how long the player account in question has been online since their last log on. This would help.

4) An archive of the last three-four separate IPs per account

Com013 has more on the LAT side of the discussion, so listen to him too :P

Torankusu 10-23-2002 06:39 PM

5.) "Test" in NC.
Having to open another graal client to check and see if a script has a little bug isn't very fun.

6.) "Style" in NC.
Having to open another graal client to style a script isn't very fun.

Loriel 10-23-2002 08:48 PM

7) Make the chat window not delete the top lines after it gets full. If that is not possible, log the chat to a text file (rclog_[server].txt).
8) Instead of not coloring nicknames anymore if they are over a certain length, just cut them. It is not good if some lines of chat get overlooked because they are not colored and stuff.
9) When I choose a nickname that has lots of spaces in it, but not enough to disconnect me for sending illegal data, it will keep saying "Loriel changed his nickname to unknown" until I close RC with Alt-Ctrl-Delete or something. It also crashes others sometimes.
10) Fix the bug that allows you to do "/open Stefan [lots of spaces] Loriel deleted the account Stefan" and it puts the Loriel deleted blah into another line. It is fun though :p
11) Do something against the possibility to change your nick to "New RC" because then you can say names which come out as if said person logs on RC, and confuse people.
12) Make the messages of the NPC Server more clear. For example, instead of "The npc name has been deleted", it should be "NPC deleted by person: name" or something. If you delete a NPC called server, it says "the npc server has been deleted"
13) Make the sendtonc command start with a certain prefix, like "NPC #N/#v(id) says:", so you cannot confuse people with stuff like "sendtonc Stefan deleted the account unixmad;".

CheeToS2 10-23-2002 08:54 PM

14) For the message the npcserver sends, "Account added a weapon", make it say what the weapon is, so we know if it is legit or not.

Actually it says that when the client attempts to add a weapon clientside. So it basically could be any script and the client could cloak it with a harmless name such as "-Day-Night" :P

Jeff 10-23-2002 09:35 PM

15) A means of determining a complete list of banned accounts

Loriel 10-23-2002 09:49 PM

15a) Make it possible to search for local stuff in the accounts list. For example, "localbanned=1" and a bitflag for rights, or something.

Yes, I know that, but you seem to forget that the majority of them are *****s.

16.) I cant download the updated levels I get old ones, Fix that bug its annoying and I cant work fast as someone has to send me the levels!

zell12 10-24-2002 04:00 AM

17.) Make File Browser seperate and/or with the RC.
18.) Make files 0kb be able to download.
19.) Make it so that the "High Admin" accounts cannot be edited by lower accounts.
20.) Make it so that you can edit folder rights without having to have the 'changerights' right.
21.) Make it so that 'serveroptions' must have a password entered to apply changes to it. The "High Admin" accounts can edit the password.
22.) The 'crc' messages will appear in a window opened by a F buttion or using a buttion.

Chronos 10-24-2002 06:06 AM

With 22 reasons to update the RC, I think it should be a priority.

crc?

23.) add /disconnect .. please :(

Torankusu 10-24-2002 11:14 AM

24.) Make a timed ban thing. Like, 1+ hour(s), or 1+ day(s), or 1+ week(s), and so on. It would be a lot easier than having to keep spare comments in some account. And then there's remembering the ban.

Test, okay, but why Style? How often do you use it? The only time I've ever clicked it is when I've missed Test, and then I have to reload the level to get my indentation back.

because it is easier for some people to let their computer style their code, instead of doing it themselves.

That's pretty stupid. But I guess people are stupid.

Why? it saves time, instead of having to press the space bar 500 times.

AlexH 10-25-2002 01:44 AM

A promt to to make sure you want to overwrite files you try to upload.

zell12 10-25-2002 01:53 AM

if you ever coded using sendtorc or sendtocrc you would know what they do.
Crc is like, the history of when someone updates a level, opens attributes of a player, bans someone, etc... It appears in the RC Chat.

Com013 10-25-2002 02:46 AM

The FileBrowser should be less laggy/use less memory when used on huge directories.

You should be able to upload files huger than 64k. (Like maps).

The comments currently always disapear when you edited the attributes of the account.

I guess if you were more of an experienced scripter you'd understand. Indenting isn't just something you do to make it pretty ¬_¬

Style as you script. Then you wont have to do all the spacebar presses at the end.

CRC is like this, if you zip something, the archive saves the CRC to a mini database and assigns it to the file you zipped, when you unzip the file, the unzipping appliction checks the CRC against the file, if they do not match, the file has been corrupted.

That's part of it, but it's a little vague. It's good for helping other people read your script, sure, but the main point is that it allows you to see the structure of your code as you type it. Typing everything without indenting may be fine when you're writing simple stuff but when you get onto complicated projects you'll see that the organisation is essential.

Mainly because I get sick of reading code completely on the left side (on npcserver). It's hard to read and I don't have the time to go through and indent it myself.

Oh, for reading other people's code? Well, fair enough.

Yeah, I hate having to go through and format other people's code...

I do style by hand for large scripts, but for somethimg small i'm in a rush to finish, it is handy to just click the button.

Tyhm 10-26-2002 01:04 PM

It'd be nice if there was an AutoStyle option. It automatically displays it indented - but saves it with the indentations removed for those crucial few bytes when you reach the &^*(%%! NPCW Max Size

Silly Tyhm. There are ways...

For many things you do not need just one npc with the whole script in it... There are ways to use multiple npc's.... or a master npc with lot's of ... "slaves"

Hehe. Kinda like a plugin.

(especially if this is a large npc for the players weaponlist (hidden or not. doesn't matter))

Or class files. Class files are good.

R0bin 10-27-2002 03:34 AM

You cant use classes in weapons tho can you?

I recon weapons with upgrades would be cool though..

if (hasweapon(Sake Upgrade)) this.drunk+=100;

Tyhm 10-27-2002 03:59 AM

1) Not all scripts lend themselves to OOPing. Particularly scripts that want to check if a local variable has been set by another subroutine - one COULD put "I'm on fire" and "I'm frozen" in different weapons, but it's a pain to make it so that if I'm on fire I'm no longer frozen and vice versa

user13-xo 10-27-2002 08:30 AM

Make deleted classes not appear in the class window?
