Suggestion

Rather than Rance's idea of having a test server where people could undoubtably make npcs to get around any protection they have against malicious users....

Have an offline npcserver
It's just a program that connects, right?
Couldn't we make a simulated npc server...?

Its a stupid idea kai, i mean, if its an offline npc server, how would getplayer function? with only one person... for lack of a better word, online.

It is a good idea

IT would be useful but them again, getplayer, ok, so that could be left out, but for those scripting for online servers when they CANNOT get online? its a good idea, say if u scripted sometyhing, ran it through it or connect it to the level editor, and then it gives outputs on errors in the script which a server would pick up on?

The best way to try and use serverside scripting is well... serverside. x.x, if you have access to an npc server then great, if not, go away :P

How about just have an option like the preset npcs and have a list of variables like 'playerscount' and then for each number you put in a text file would be created offline with that "player's" attributes. It would be useful for testing allplayerscount and such...but for the rest, just have another text file or inbuilt text field where you type in the npc-server script and all server triggeractions offline would call that text.

i'm sure if they really wanted to they could script virtual "players" (maybe 5) that you could change all the attributes of.... i dunno..

Food for thought.
