Different Arrow Types

Perhaps different types of arrows. I know this will probably be already done, but just here are my ideas for some. Except for wooden arrows and regular arrows:

Poisonous Arrows: Same as wooden arrows, except there is a chance you become posioned when hit. Maybe a 15% since it is deadly. Made at a arrow crafting shop in 5's for 1 bord and 1 mushroom of poison.

Daimond Tipped Arrows: The tip is diamond instead of metal, adds +5 to damage. Made at crafting area in 5's for 1 board and 1 diamond.

Guided Arrows: Bought in stores or made using a spell "Create Guided Arrow" when fired they will always hit a target, if you fire at a certain target and miss it will automatically hit the nearest babby or player. That it will not fail to cause damage, that is not garanteed.

The Black Arrow: Made by carfting 1 board, and 5 diamond. It does +10,000 damage, meaning if it hits and does not fail it will always kill any baddie or player. Good for assassins.

Tell me which (if any) you like and which (if any) you dislike as well as your own arrow ideas.

black arrow is horrible. :\
that is totally unbalanced and would ruine tourneys.

poisonous arrow i like, mainly because I like the idea of using special mushrooms to make arrows, it gives poisonous foods a point hehe.

guided one I dont totally like because I dont like the idea of garunteed hits, bypassing the AC and WC stuff.

maybe the option of shooting a volley of arrows at once could be neat...more likely to hit something or maybe more than one thing but would cost 3 arrows or 5 or whatever each shot.

For better accuracy, I think instead of thinking up crazy arrows for bows, there should instead be crossbows that fire bolts. Bolts would be made of metal so they would be slightly more expensive to make but would be alot more accurate because they would travel in straight lines up to so many units then lose altitude.

As for the guided arrows I wrote at the bottom they don't bypass ac and wc. But I guess you could have understood. Although I guess bolts will be for accuracy.

But the black arrow isn't unbalanced because have you ever tried archery? It's pretty hard to hit the target no? And you would have to be pretty skilled, and pretty rich to waste around 25 platinum on one arrow that can still fail by your aiming, your wc, their ac.

hrm... I don't think its unreasonable to get 10 or 20 of these things and fire willly nilly to assuredly take out ONE target.... say the lvl 12 character warrior=P

MasterNuke 10-11-2002 05:36 PM

Simple tactics can be used to avoid an 'instant kill' arrow... and there are no level 12 warriors yet......

BlKnight 10-12-2002 03:29 AM

That is why an instant kill arrow could be a good thing. Especially for ambushes and assassinations....I mean what will the snipers do? Fire a rain of arrow aftrer arrow?

ReaperJ 10-12-2002 05:54 AM

well hey, you better just make it really hard to make, and take a long time to shoot, so you dont have every other melee fighter using the durn thing

=P beat ya to it, i told stefan all of these ideas weeks ago, he likes them.. lol.
Poison arrow- gotta have a friend who is an alchemist, better the alchemist, better the arrow (or just have balor bless your bow)

Flaming arrow- gotta have a friend with a torch.

Obsidian arrow- pierces armor- gotta have a friend with fletching skill

Instakill arrows/weapons/spells are fine on the condition that death isn't a big thing. Otherwise it's pretty annoying for Joe Average to lose his stats/money/whatever just because he didn't see the arrow in time.

Zach1 10-13-2002 08:30 AM

Agreed. Personally i would love to see people catch on fire..and have to roll on the ground to put it out, people running around in flames would be a nice touch to the game...same could work with poison arrows except you need bedrest and/or an alchemist friend.
