X_x stefan can't help me so is there ANYONE OUT THERE WHO CAN?!?!

:sigh: after contacting stefan about my problem appearently I still don't know how to solve my lil problem. I recently got my new window's XP Professional computer and the game is running smoothly than my old window's 98 computer yet the problem is in XP my character in the game is like 2 to 3 steps slower than the average player's movement while in 98 the game is kinda glitchy (laggy) yet my speed wasn't that slow like in XP. I noticed that when I walk in 98 it looks like my character is moving faster than the one I use on XP. So is there anyone there that can help me correct this problem?!?!:(

AlexH 09-25-2002 05:28 AM

Is it 2 different computers you have or did you install XP over 98?

Z_Law 09-25-2002 05:38 AM

2 complete different computers I'm currently using my XP cuz I gave my 98 to my sister >_<:grrr:

AlexH 09-25-2002 05:39 AM

Well it may have nothing to do with what windows your running.
The 98 computers system specs might be better than the XP one. :\

Z_Law 09-25-2002 05:40 AM

What must I do WHAT MUST I DO O WISE ONE <_>

AlexH 09-25-2002 05:42 AM

Post your system specs then we'll take it from there.

Z_Law 09-25-2002 07:51 AM

:sigh: i haven't fully figured out how to work my XP yet so how can I locate the system specs information?

Com013 09-26-2002 01:20 AM

Normally you should know them when buying your PC.
Which frequency uses your CPU (MHz)?
How much RAM do you have (MB)?

(press [strange-Win-key]+[Pause] to open the system config...atleast that's the key combination on Win95)

And: how fast is your internet connection?

BinaryCrash 09-26-2002 10:54 PM

right click on "my computer" and click on "propeties" then
then check the processor and the memory installed.
XP needs 128 Ram Memory at least to run it good.
XP needs a good computer, so if you dont have... continue with
windows 98.

Ah, you should check you video card too.

Ibonic 09-27-2002 04:42 AM

There could be a few smaller things that can cause games to run slower (especially while not in fullscreen mode) such as running with 32-bit resolution or having CPU/memory consuming programs running in the background for example, but I'm not going to make a whole list now. So for now, try checking if you're using 32-bit resolution, and change it to 16-bit if you are. Rarely (and usually on slower computers), opening a web site that contains Flash with IE can speed up games (particularly Graal) -- I know this seems stupid, but it actually does work for some of my own.

Z_Law 09-27-2002 09:33 AM

my bad pplz I was away for awhile so didn't have the chance to reply lol anyway you're rite my resolution was on 32-bit and higher for my computer oh and err my computer has 1.90 GHz and 256 MB of RAM o and its a pentium 4 so its good

R0b1n-NPC 09-27-2002 04:51 PM

Whats really funny on xp, is that playing online is less laggy than playing offline (for me anyway) x.x

Z_Law 09-28-2002 02:34 AM

Damn XP damn them all!!!:grrr:

Z_Law 09-28-2002 02:37 AM

BTW is there anything I should look out for other than the 32-bit resolution thing that can cause my character to move slow??

R0b1n-NPC 09-29-2002 01:34 AM

Opening memory hungry progs would slow down graal, espescially since graal likes to take up 100% system resources...

So no trainers j00 :P

Z_Law 09-30-2002 12:52 AM

Is it opened manually or is it activated once the computer starts up? If so how do I check err turn it off?

Soto 09-30-2002 02:42 AM

on my mmoms comp i had the same problem ii would go hella slow then when i would open windows media player i would zoom so i don tknow its something about when you buy a new comp an it comes with xp it runs slow on graal.

Z_Law 09-30-2002 10:12 AM

usally the new comps that would come with the comp it would go slow but i have xp i upgraded from me an mine runs fine.

Tyhm 10-05-2002 05:20 AM

Given Microsoft's pattern, Media Player probably cheats and locks out idle processes to keep it going at full speed, doing some memory control that ordinary programs are prohibited from doing. If it's possible to emulate it, that'd be shweet though...Stefan could tell Graal to act like Media Player memory-wise...trouble is finding out what Media Player does that speeds things up...

Com013 10-06-2002 09:21 PM

Don't you just set the priority of a task to a higher value? I think that's what you are saying the media player is doing. You could use the Kernel Tools to find out. The program is called WinTop or so.

Z_Law 10-06-2002 11:38 PM

I feel so left out in this conversation all of a sudden <_>
