Trains

I would love to have a train that would go all over around for us slow poke 56kers, and 433 mhz. And good graphics train, not the one on 2k1, thats a cartoon train, horrible graphics!

Crovax_Dark_Lord 09-03-2002 12:37 AM

How many trains were there in the Dark Ages? Or in medieval times? The last thing we want is another 2k1, wait till horses come out.

There was no magic, and all these different types of people never lived on one island...so what's your point?

Realism will not and cannot work in a game.

aylad 09-03-2002 06:05 AM

Realism, within limits, is what makes a game work.

I said within limits. Yeah, stretching the truth to include magic and gods-who-make-you-never-eat works. It works great. But 2k2 just doesn't have a "train" atmosphere, you know? I just want horses. With wagons. And NPCs driving horses pulling wagons who will give you a ride for X amount of silver.

Ziro- 09-03-2002 06:40 AM

I think this person just wanted a fast form of transportation....probably didn't consider what kind of transportation would be best....give the guy a break, will you? I agree....something to go around the world be nice....you say a wagon....maybe some freak who rides around on one letting people in...like a bunch of horses too...so it goes fast

konidias 09-03-2002 06:46 AM

Trains would not work on 2k2.. the tracks wouldn't line up correctly over the terrain anyway...

LiL_NightFall 09-03-2002 02:02 PM

Hehe at least you posted an idea the 2nd time. Actually I like your wagon idea. That could be a good mode of transportation. :D

I can see it now, tons of people riding on wagons through Dustari.

Realism doesn't work in a game? I better tell Microsoft and those other simulation companys because Flight Simulator and Train Simulator can have no realism. It may not work in an RPG but in a game, say Medal Of Honour, yes.

BlKnight 09-03-2002 11:30 PM

Better idea have a horse drawn wagon come aroudn to every town and you can buy a ride for a few gold.

A few silver -- good grievin' gralats, everything's too expensive already. At least make RIDES cheap.

Instead wait untill like a kingdom technology system is setup.

So then like the Zormite Empire could come up with an invention that uses water to power wheels or something.

Let's find out a way to turn bomys into a form of energy we can use to power vehicles to transport us accross the world! Solve 2 problems at once! 6 birds...one bomy...or somethin like that...

Im not sure if you have notice but were just trying to make Graal2002 a game based on middle ages in a fantasy world. You know, dragons, knights in shinning armor, evil demons, wizards...etc...

So you see where the trains don't fit in? I think you should read about King Arthur or something and get an idea.

game_king 09-06-2002 07:21 PM

i still think plain old horses is the way to go

I'm a little off subject here, but are you actually saying that Medal of Honour is realistic? One man wins a war almost single-handedly, killing hundreds of people in the process! That ain't realism!

Crovax_Dark_Lord 09-06-2002 11:49 PM

Ok, bad example, I only play strategy games like AoE 2 and C&C Red Alert 2 so I wouldn't know, I heard from my cousin that it was very realistic however.

LiL_NightFall 09-07-2002 01:28 AM

If a game could be real, then it wouldn't be a game it would be life. Kthx

The End.

PS: I do agree trains don't fit, I just hate when people use "it's not realistic" as a reason why something won't work.

The End2.

BlKnight 09-07-2002 04:08 AM

Games don't have to be fanatically realistic. but allowing some general ground rules such as there were no trains or computers or machine guns in the medieval ages, and since our game is based on the dark ages, let's not have any in our game either. Is fine.

Graal, pre-2k2 and pre-new GZKI bodies, seemed to be like another planet(with graalians[fat short guys, with leg/feet],not humans) during a time similar to our medieval ages...allowing some changes...like...putting in bomys...and other technology, now g2k2 just seems more like humans in other planet, cause there's still the weird monsters....so something like a train could develop soon, if the world of GZKZ starts advancing like "discovering" some minerals and stuff in the world...

Yea, its not that trains are not realistic, its the fact that it dosen't belong to that time. Anyways, we can all pretty much tell what this fella wanted to say.

BlKnight 09-07-2002 06:59 AM

But why would you be able to evolve and discover new things? I am sure the general public wants it to stay in the medieval ages and not advance and disocver electricity and leave magic for machines etc.

Try a game like Mafia... very realistic but yet some unrealistic parts in there. Like how you can steal a car behind the police's back and they never notice it.

middo 09-07-2002 08:55 AM

Something confuses me though.
How can there be lumber mills that seem to run automaticly,
and not be trains
:o

Crovax_Dark_Lord 09-07-2002 03:11 PM

A wizard did it...
Anyway, these "aliens" are monsters, dragons (an integral part of any RPG) are magical monsters rather than aliens, so why not be orginonal and have magical bomy monsters.

Shhh if we don't act like everything in the game is realistic, they will mob us.

I haven't seen one realistic thing in the entire game. :o

Crovax_Dark_Lord 09-07-2002 03:28 PM

Throw your computer out the window, go outside, buy a thousand pound suit of armour and craft a sword from iron you find in your local mine. you can then run amok in your straw thatched village slaying dragons. That realistic enough?
