Store Selections...Read

Stores shouldn't have the items places on the desk =) , the store NPC , if you talk to him he will give you a selection a little menu you can scroll right to see the Item, it will show ap icture of it and what it is, I mean like you press the arrow keyit will move on to the next item this is much easier,

I prefer it as is. It's more realistic that the shopkeeper would actually use his shelves.

selzar next time you go out try making it to ANY store, you wont find the shop keeper holding ever single item in a bag or, box at the front desk...
and if your looking for an item (ex: potion of heroism) you can walk inot a shop, and leave right away if its not there, nice a quick, you shouldnt have to talk to the clerk and read the list and all htat stuff

You could make it so the store is a small room and you see the menu like the guy said and when you purchase the shopkeeper goes into a small back room and retrieves your item. But than again nowm is fine.

Bleh, you should be allowed to make requests with the shopkeeper for an item you want. It's not like the shopkeeper would just ignore a sale because he doesn't currently have the item on the shelf. Just make a waiting period of about 20-40 minutes, come back, and check to see if the Shopkeeper found the item.

To keep people from abusing this, make the item slightly more expensive or allow only one request per person, per store every hour.

RealJuggernaut 08-29-2002 03:46 AM

that wouldnt work, if you kept saying amulet of substance (just an example) like 15 times then no one would be able to use the shop for like 3 hours

.!

we need this item thing... i get HECKA Mad when i see them selling the same crap on and on taking spaces on the desk space...

I said per person somewhere in there.

I like the idea.

it ISNT a BAD idea but 20-40 minutes is way way to long, it shoueld be like 20-40 seconds

Having the shopkeeper reserve stuff for you completely defies the point of having a random stock selection.

That's true. I feel a better system would be supply and demand. The shop owner stocks things people buy frequently. Then raises the price on those things.

For example, four rings in the shop

Ring (dex+1)
Ring (speed-1)
Ring (dam+1)
Ring (cha-1)

Okay, now if people constantly buy the dam+1 and dex+1 ring, the other two rings would not be restocked as much as the dam+1 and dex+1. However, the frequently bought rings would raise in price every time they are purchased.

Items that aren't bought very often would slowly lower in price and wouldn't appear as much. Therefore, you end up with items you want, being in the shop most of the time, but at a bit more expensive, and items you don't want, not appearing as often, and being relatively cheap.

Some might say, "well people could cheat it and not buy a good ring for a long time and then it would get dirt cheap". But I highly doubt the greedy players of 2k2 are going to wait it out, and then, how long do you wait? Someone might think the current price is fine, and buy the ring right out from under you, then the ring will raise in value, and you will be waiting for it to drop again. It would be a gamble to get the lowest price items that you could. :)

edit: ALSO, items would always have varying prices, which is a good thing, because having an amulet or something at a defined price, makes it boring, as you can only buy it for so much, and sell it for so much. It would be nice if you could buy a ring at a low price, and when the price appreciates, you could sell it to someone for more. Sort of like investments.

Make the items more expensive, maybe an extra 20% or so.
It's better to find it on the shelf because it would be cheaper and easier, so you don't have to ask the shopkeeper and wait.

20-40 minutes is fine. 20-40 seconds = abuse. I'm not saying replace the current system, I'm saying add this to it.
