why not release the silver and gold stuff?

you already have all the gfx and stuff for the silver and gold warrior helmets and chest plates and all you need to do is add AC and psychial reststance stats to them and you can release it to us and make us happy

FFusion 08-27-2002 12:09 AM

I wouldn't care about the new armor and helmets unless they give better defense than the current ones. I would rather have better armor than looks of them.

...use your head, they do. And Pith, they already have WC and whatnot added to them, in fact there's an even better kind of armor than them :) But I refuse to show any pictures

IF THEY AHVE ALL THOSE **** WHY DONT THEY JUST RELEASE THEM?

Flamingblaze 08-27-2002 03:37 AM

Because they like to torment us.

evilive 08-27-2002 03:39 AM

Waiting until it really would do any good...

IE: The main 2k2 server! Where everyone starts off clean...

Kaimetsu 08-27-2002 03:41 AM

Currently it's too easy to get the big armours. Maybe they're restricting it until they develop a system where it takes a little more effort to make them.

It's that or two other reasons:
1. They'll be given away as a special prize for events
2. They'll be for high Kingdom people such as kings, generals, admirals, and what have you.

Probably one of those, yeah. But they should still make it harder to get the best equipment :(

Admins 08-27-2002 04:52 AM

Yes the plan is that for some stuff you need to get some rare item, like a dragons eye that he only drops all 1000 kills or so :)

That's worse than having a king get king armor :X

MasterNuke 08-27-2002 04:56 AM

Yea... to get the best armor with 15 minutes of gameplay is just rediculous....

Flameuss 08-27-2002 06:35 AM

1000 kills? a little harsh hmm how about 500?

We want these items to be fairly rare, I think 1000 sounds good.

konidias 08-27-2002 04:29 PM

That was the downfall of 2k1 in my opinion. You can just get every item in an hour. If I started a new account on 2k2, now that I know where everything is, and what I need to make it, I could probably have the best of everything in less than an hour.

Also... shouldn't better armor become LIGHTER? What is the point in having great armor, if it's going to weigh you down more than the lesser armor? There is no improvement to the armor other than protection?

If you look at how technology works, armor gets lighter and stronger, not heavier and stronger. ;) Perhaps this rarer armor would be lightweight with more protection.

BlKnight 08-27-2002 09:17 PM

Yes but in 2k1 it wasn't an rpg and there was little roleplaying. I don't think rarity of items is that important. Sure have some rare rings and amulets but in terms of armour and weapons I think spending about an hour maybe a few fours should get you the best stuff possible. Unfortunetly for me mmorpgs are usually like this, based more on stats and items and things than true roleplaying (some people like this though).

I agree

emortylone 08-28-2002 08:16 AM

I think that you guys should wait until it is all finished, he he. The whole point is to get a GLIMPSE of what 2k2 will REALLY look like, and to get you hooked into it, waiting for new and better things. When it FINALLY really goes through, I am almost positive you will find MANY new and exciting things. So in this case, as well as others: "Patience is a virtue".

Yeah, probably be up sometime in 2k3. =/

emortylone 08-28-2002 09:01 AM

LOL. Do you have ANY idea on how long it takes to make a server from start to finish? We've been working on Anarchy for over 6 months, and I'm starting to redo the older scripts, make them better and for an NPC Server, and we're getting some tilesets... it takes TIME, and skillz. The NPC Team consists of Er1c and Stefan, that is IT... meaning that EVERYTHING you see was made by one of those two... plus the level was done by some people, so it isn't an easy or short process.

What about when Garel and Bezerker and crap worked on it?
