can someone help me learn this ?
i just cant learn it and cant check if im doing things wrong cause test doesnt work on serverside X.x

LOL. Would you like me to tell you everything that I had help w/ learning? Let me give you a VERY detailed list of who helped me do what:
Kai: Sin, Cos, little bit w/ vectors
S.S. Link: this.vars and some strings
Zega/Riot: LITTLE bit of NPC server. I picked it up for the most part after seeing a few examples.
So do not ask for someone to start explaining, as it would VERY difficult to find a place to start. And there are commands that are rarely used you don't think of unless you are going to use them. getnearestplayer I guarantee not many people know how to use it, but yet it exists... so pick up a few tut's and look @ them. I read a few lines of one, and then got a job and picked it up :P SL is looking for Scripters I think, and Maloria is looking for good ones (I work there ATM, don't know how long if BinaryCrash won't stop riding my @$$ ;) ) I made this REALLY cool script I'm going to post in a few minutes, perhaps, but CyberX said he didn't like it and wants one similar to the 2k2 system for it! I found it REPULSIVE, and can't believe he won't come up with ideas and would rather just have something other servers have x.x

Ill be nicer! Its too long and big for someone to ''Teach'' you. So start with the Thread about NPC server with about 5 Attachments, look at them and learn them.

Look at scripts people put on here and see how they do it

Get a job on a playerworld with NPC server and try and get NC and some FTP so that you can experiment

Then you can teach and learn it yourself =)

LOL Kai. Let me say, if you don't know what you're doing, don't ask Kai for help =P I've been posting for quite a bit, and I am getting REALLY good at scripting :D btw, Thanx Screen_name, i'll try it again...

yo, chill out. If you aren't willing to take the learning into your own hands, you aren't serious about scripting. NO one ever learned ENTIRELY by being taught. You learn the best when you do it yourself. Sometimes it takes more time, but you will learn better :P I'm working on my site, www.projectshifter.com and I have a bit up, the gifs i have to rename because they bugged on me :'(

Sorry folks, been on vacation for a while.

I did... Jerom aught me most of the basics abd taught me about vecx/vecy as well...
Tangy poptart showed me array's and crap and some more advanced scripting...
NyghtGT helps me all the time....
Jagen helps me and gives me hints (and taught me sin/cos)...

But I do have to say, after learning alot... practicing and then testing is the key.. and if you cant figure it out, get some friends to help.. but don't just accept a scritp... I always asked them to script something WITH ME.. or explain this to me >;P

I guess I'll tell you some stuff about me and my scripting.


I first started to learn when I was about 14 or 15, with the npcprogramming.doc, I read it about 4 times from beginning to end.
I started to try scripting, started with the easy stuff, such as warp rings and stores. I had a lot of trouble with stores for about 3 months. I stopped playing Graal for about 4~6 months because of various reasons. When I finally decided to come back, I got the new version and started to script. After about 2 weeks, I realized that I had gotten a lot better with no explantion. Before I knew it I was scripting all sorts of things, 2 different CtF games, a wallet (portable bank), team spars, parks (where the actual park is nopkzone and you cant be hurt), and a customizable rupee dropper. These things seem crappy now, but back then I was amazed with myself. Eventually I stepped up to more advanced stuff and then I evolved into what you see today.


Here are some secrets that most people don't know about my scripting abilities:
I don't understand sin, cos, or arctan.
I didn't learn how to use arrays til about 7 months ago.
I didn't learn how to use for (), til about 5 months ago.
I fear scripting light effects.

And i didnt realise that stuff about S_N! Btw , why you afraid when it comes to Light effects?

I'm not exactly sure why, but I just get nervous and scared when I try to script them, it's really weird.

Oh yeah, here is something thats weird.

I was scripting a game, on paper, at like 1am one night, I went to bed about 3am or so. I hadn't finished the script before I went to bed, but I dreamnt about scripting and what was needed to finish it. When I got up, I wrote it down before I forgot it and it worked quite well. :p

It's funny, I won't say how long I"ve been scripting, but it hasn't been that long, he he. Possibly a little under a year or so? I am not sure. But I think I've learned QUITE a lot and am good for the time I've been scripting? If I'd known about Graal earlier, who knows? I only started at like 2.0 or something, LMAO
