Shoot npc with radius and elevation

1 Attachment(s)
Hi guys, I been at it again (last time i was at it the 3 page light jello script)

Here is a fun little npc you could easily make a shooting weapon out of. The part where an object gets shot is not included,
this is just feeding stuff to the shoot command.

Press left and right to change the angle.

Press up and down to change the elevation.

Press and hold D to shoot at that angle and elevation.

Hold D and press up, down, left, right for cool shooting patterns.
For educational purposes, free to extract and use in your npcs provided you keep the header thing there with my website address.

Have fun!

would be better if it actually shot at the direction the red dot was facing instead of shooting up when it was down and down when it was up

complain complain complain... is that all people do?

Personally I think its really cool :D

prozac424242 08-24-2002 11:44 AM

holy geez

For everythign else that script does, most graal players would not be aware of it. You pick the ONE thing that is of by 180 degrees on up and down (left and right work) and complain! GEEZ!

NEW RULE: if you complain that something dosent work, OFFER A SoULITION IN THAT SAME POST! please!

Hey prozac, did you get my forum pm?

emortylone 08-24-2002 11:56 AM

I would have to agree w/ you Prozac =P Good idea. When skilled NAT's are willing to post scripts, don't complain. Say, oh, it could have this in it, or this could be changed, but don't be like "this is stupid!" or "pointless". Say thanks, post some POSITIVE comments (No one likes a pessimest!), and get on with it. I may check it out l8er, but if it is just your up->down and down->up that is mixed up, perhaps you switched dir 0 with dir 2? Or depends on how you did it. L8er

here, thast other one was what i did when it was 5 in the morning and i was tired

all you really had to do was in the shoot command have it shoot at the angle*(-1)
which reverse the number :)

prozac424242 08-25-2002 06:28 AM

One more fix ....

Ok folks,

Here is the nearly-finished NPC (thanks s.s. link!)
for the bow.

One thing left to add
(and you will see commented out where i tired)
is getting this.angle and this.sangle
based on the players starting position,
that they will be pointing the angle at where they are facing when they go to shoot.

If you have ever shot a bow in arrow in real life,
you take the arrow, nock it (put it on the string) and draw
back, holding it in place til you aim and fire.

So, here you press and hold D, left and right to adjust angle,
up and down to adjust elevation, then Release D to shoot, just like real life, heh.

Post a fix whenst you discovereth it, ye valiant scipters you.

like my rock script on enigma.

can shoot rocks on any angle on a 360* radias and change the height from .5 to 1.5 and in between.

prozac424242 08-25-2002 09:29 PM

hm?

An enigma? isnt that something you shove up your butt when your constipated? oh wait thats an enema...

I never seen a script like that before but i'm not suprised that it's already been done. Graal has been around a while and there are thousands of people who have it downloaded.
Its like trying to write a song on guitar, every single chord combination and progression has already been done, even if you never heard it, jsut because its been around for so long.
There is nothing new left to to be made. (unles a completely new command comes out heh)

I am VERY sorry Prozac, but that is about the DUMBEST thing I've ever heard x.X That is SO untrue. While MUCH has been done, you have to be good and skilled to make new things.

HAHAHAHA! That is the voice of inexperience!

What is Graal? A video game.
How long have people been makign video games?
almost thirty years.
Why do people make video games?
To try and emulate things that they think of in their mind by usign a computer.
How long have people been having ideas?
more than four thousand years!

The computer and video games and graal
are all new ways of doing the same thing;
expressing ideas in a particular medium.

In the history of the world, nothing new is left to do anymore.
Everything that is will pass away into myth,
Everything that has been, will be again,
the cycle of eternal thought in the etherial
consiousness form which our 'creativity' is born
and drawn from is our way of reaching through the
fabric of space and time, takign form the past,
making it anew, and catupulting that action into the future
for another to grab in the intangible pain of thought,
that they might claim an idea as their own
when really it belongs to the cosmos.

this is the nature of the universe, my friend.

contexts

Nothign has inherent value? Then letters would have no value, neither would words, nor opinion, nor anything that was ever said by anyone. But that is not the case, or you would have not replied to my post.

Value is an abstract of potential worth and importance that varies from person to person - BUT each person has an inset internal subconsious heigherarchy of value - of good and bad, of right and wrong, sense of justice, etc.

I submit that there are certain truths in the universe that apply to everyone the same, and that to find out what they are is the subject of philosophy down through the ages. That there are some absolutes out there from which no one can escape.

And yes, perhaps the scope of my view of the cosmos was too wide when this is a little bitty graal forum with maybe a few dozen regular participants.

And while things that have not appeared on Graal before does not they have appeared on another video game before.
And if not in a game, then another program - or on paper - or form someone's train of thought - if not form this planet, then form another planet that we are totally unaware of.

The are a very large but limited amount of combinations of human DNA, and with six billion peopel on this planet alive now, not to mention that many and more who have lived and died since the beginings of humanity, no one is living now whose dna patterne - and possibly, thought processes - have not lived and happened before. Though lost to history with no record, i still think all has been done and we are doing it again, i know i can't back that up
but ... oh wait this is the scripting forum not philosophy class. heh
