Leveling up

Hmm....Here's a suggestion I'd think many people would agree on:leveling needs a bit of fixing. Sure, we all know it's supposed to be a long hard road. But why is it that it's based solely on killing things? Let's examine how each class SHOULD be able to gain EXP....

Warrior and Barbarian: Killing things obviously, but granted their physical classes, they should also gain some light EXP from doing things such as chopping down trees and mining.

Sorcerer: Tone down the power of their magic por favor. They gain EXP far too easily with their omnipotent AoE spells.

Theifs: Oi, kind of like the Warriors except instead of mining and lumbering, they should gain some EXP from stealing, obviously, and from PKing since Theives do have such an infamous reputation.

Alchemists: Let them get some EXP from mixing up magical potions, I mean c'mon that's a given!

Priests: Let Priests get some EXP bonuses from slaying the undead more than normal, and also from healing others, etc. Especially we the Priests of Brigid. I mean we cant even make our own food, at least throw us a bone and give us some EXP for doing what we do best, Healing.

Yes we need to connect the old activities (mining, farming etc.) to the skills system. Alchemy already works, don't know why healing doesn't give experience.

ehh you can gain exp other ways than killing monsters. You gain exp from reading books ect...I dont have experience with many of the skills but i am sure you get exp from using many of them.

LordZen 08-19-2002 04:01 PM

oh also you get exp from killing monsters because you are using melee skill, and you get experience only under physical section if you notice, and all experience from all sections is added together to decide how close you are to leveling up your character.

I want a way to raise my warrior's brainpower...

I mean, an exp-based way, not buying potions.

When school/education systems come out for Kingdoms... you should gain some xp when you attend classes... therefore increasing the want for RPing and increasing the RPing in education.

Experiance is what we go through in life... meaning if a NPC teaches us something... we gain exp...

If priests gain experience by healing people, it will become far too easy to level up. Priests will just bind a healing spell to a key, and run around crowded areas jamming it down. Where's the challenge in that? :(

Juron Pilo 08-24-2002 02:14 PM

Aestus it could be made so that you gon't get jack unless the person NEEDS healing

ALUCARDPSX 08-25-2002 12:42 PM

then two people could gain exp like heck by going to a secluded area and turning on pk and beating eachother down and then healing themselves
