The map.

Well, it seems as if the old thread didn't work out well, so let's start anew.

Over the last few days I've been sitting down and thinking what are the major landmarks over the 2002 kingdom island, and what names to give them. I sat down with a few Dustarians and we started naming landmarks, and this is what we came up with. Special thanks to Gryffon and Arwen who came up with a lot of the brainstorming and names, and thanks to the other Dustarians who looked over the map. I would have sent it to more of you, but it's so much easier to post it and give some general feedback.

Now that it's posted, please help name some good locations for things such as cities, ports, towns etc. The capital will be on the plains of Baritol and the castle will hopefully be at the southern tip of the Dragonspine Mtn. range.

I named like 13/16 of those, so obviously I like it :D

trickster2006 08-16-2002 11:10 PM

Can I have an old rotten memorial called the Trenton Memorial?:D

-Axel- 08-17-2002 12:50 AM

I..... Actually like it o_O';........

o_O';.......

Oh, but I wouldn't throw the castle near a snowy area, considering its made out of stone..... I would locate the castle above the delta where the Ash groove starts.

Oh, and most of the towns should be around the delta, considering almost all civilizations and towns started along a river/ area of water.

*sublimial message* barbarian tribe...>:D

I think it's slightly bigger than the start island

Pith 08-17-2002 03:29 AM

too many names

ZanderX 08-17-2002 04:45 AM

Dustari's something like 32x32, I believe.

At least, that's what I remember when I opened it in the terrain gen months ago.

Amagius 08-17-2002 04:49 AM

I don't like the idea of building weak settlements all over the map right when we get there. -_-

Brad 08-17-2002 05:17 AM

I want a small cave near the southern tip of the Twusk Fang Mt. Range.

Pith 08-17-2002 05:25 AM

umm the enemies can just go to like towns and beta up all the people and kill them bc everyone is all spread out so it'll be easy

My point exactly. There are other reasons, also, but thhat's the main one. You need to build one City up and and get money, before you place three houses in 21 different places and call it a nation.

There could be Hijacking, Assassination, Killing, Destroying, just because of having the city to small, far away, and not funded in the beginning.

trickster2006 08-17-2002 05:51 AM

I say we build the Castle then the capital city. Then we would slowly expand. Wait till we have enough funds for 2 cities, but only build one. This would ensure that we would have enough funds, food, and hopefully people.

ZanderX 08-17-2002 06:40 AM

It's already all planned.

MilkyWay0016 08-17-2002 06:41 AM

Well, We don't want capital city to be a hudge metroplois, either!
The way it might turn out with population is:
Castle - royality and some head chefs, guests, etc
Capital City - medium population
Main Docks - medium population
smaller docks - very small population
other towns - small population

We can try and get NPC people in also, to make them bigger - and also, I figured that there will always be more people in capital city, main port, etc for obious reasons. And no matter HOW big a populaion in a city, there will never be a ton of people just hanging around. Most will be exploring.

And on that snow/castle comment, not IN the snow, at the bast of the mountain. See the little hook in the end of the Dragonspire? :)

It's called a spur, and placing the castle and capital city in that area were my idea. -.-

GryffonDurime 08-17-2002 07:41 AM

And it's the DRAGONSPINE Mountains

Having many small towns is a bad idea, I agree, but there are some rules that must be followed according to Stefan, and we have to play by the rules. I don't want lots of tiny little cities, just enough for our people to settle comfortably in, but well placed enough so it seems as if most of the map is well occupied and there are no major empty spots.

Python523 08-17-2002 08:19 AM

how many towns do you plan on havin

Not too sure yet. Right now I am thinking three or four major ones, and a few ports. It's the safest bet for now, then later on there is always room for expansion

PuffyPuppy 08-22-2002 08:03 PM

Back to the level things. I think aftershock told me it was like 1000 levels
