** August 8 Release

New experience system :
-------------------------

Basically, the more stats you have lost, the less likely that you will lose more. Additionally, lower level characters are shown a lot more mercy (there are caps on how much of a stat you can lose too).

On the nasty side, if you are higher level, you can lose multiple stats at once and are shown less mercy when you die. But when you're higher level, it is much easier to buy back your stats with potions.

New peaceful mode (command /peaceful)
-------------------------------------

If you are on peaceful mode then you can not be attacked by players, this is only a first implementation, in the next version we will make it more interesting, for example if you attack someone you will loose your peaceful mode.

Gods/ Altars
------------

Altars have been released, you will find them on the main island, if you are a priest or have the priest skill then you can use the command /use_skill praying for praying.

When a player prays over an aligned altar, one of three things may happen based on the players currently worshiped god:

- "Unaligned" player prays over an altar - results in that player becoming a worshiper of the god the altar is dedicated to.

- Player prays over their god's altar - results in faster grace regeneration. In addition, player may pray to gain up to twice their normal amount of grace. Also, from time to time your god might give you information, blessings, or something really good; it depends on your WIS, POW and priest experience.

- Player prays over alien god's altar - results in punishment of the player (generally they lose some of their priest experience). This action can result in the defection of the player to the alien god's cult.

The following things happen when a worshiper joins a god's cult:

the worshiper gains access to the special flavour of magic belonging to the cult.

the ability to cast magic is altered to reflect the powers of the worshiper's god. Some spells will be easier to cast; others will be more difficult, and some spell Paths will be forbidden. It is impossible to regain forbidden spells by any means except leaving the cult.

the worshiper becomes protected and/or vulnerable to certain attacks.

IMPORTANT Note that a player can belong to only one cult at any one time.

Peaceful mode seems kind of... unfair. =/

Hiyoshi 08-11-2002 03:34 PM

Is there any way we can gain our experience back?

Sparkplug 08-11-2002 03:35 PM

I like it... Great job

Judge_Spunky 08-11-2002 03:38 PM

Sounds cool.
Makes me want to reupgrade my account even more. :)

Bleh

Experiance System is still the same just different way of losing it

I dunno if this has been done but.

You shouldn't lose level when losing experiance. You should lose 20% of the current level Experiance.

Throw out the losing stat points idea, its not a good one I believe. Make players lose a random none equipted item, like 1 item for lower levels and 2 or 3 items for higher levels.

It's normal to have big penality when you die, in real life when you die you don't come back like that isn't it ?

Another reason is i don't want to have unbalanced power in the game, in one side all old players that are like gods and the newby near them just waiting to be killed in kingdoms wars.

That's it and i will not change it.

Unix.

Make a Afterworld sort of deal
and to get out you must travel through a large maze (which of course should vary)
Also players should leave a tomestone (only last for a min or 2) and priests can use tomestones and revive lost companions. Keeping a player from losing any exp or stats I suppose.

magicbud3344 08-12-2002 04:01 PM

That would totaly roxorz XD
i would become super best friends with a priest, or become a priest and be like ONLY IF U PAY ME 20 PLATS FOOL!
ghost your ideas are gold

stat lost makes bad gameplay

temp stat lost is reasonable to me (you get back stats within a certain time)

feivel 08-13-2002 03:15 AM

Ghost about losing ecperience from only the experience you have gained to go to the next level, but never lose experience that you already had and past a level i.e. you can lose experience but not lose level is like what Diablo has I think

You can get it back. You need to buy a potion of life. Just go to the new store in Palmoloma (the starting town).

ChocoboGrn 08-13-2002 07:37 PM

I've played on a few MMORPG's, (UO, Everquest, a few MUDs)
When they die, they usually force you to get your items back, but allow you to keep the exp/stats you have. However, they also had BANKS and HOUSES to store excess items.

So, if this or something similar to this was implimented, we would need at least a few banks in town.

Oh, by bank, they had a storage vault that could basically be used as a container and could be accessed from any of the "branches" of the bank...

The use of cult for a legitimate religion is politically incorrect.
