PS2 Version of Graal

The 25th of this month, you'll be able to connect to the internet to play videogames online with other people, on the Playstation2.
I was thinking, would it be easy enough to code Graal into whatever so it works on the PS2? I would really love to see a Playstation2 online version, because then I can play all day. (I'm not restricted on time watching TV/Playing videogames, but I am on the computer.) I don't mean an entire different game, infact, I was wondering if you could have the PS2 version people play with the computer people on the SAME server? (2k2, 2k1, Classic, ect. thoes servers)

Is this possible?

Googi 08-11-2002 05:15 AM

Haha, you are restricted on computer but not videogames? Heh, why?

GBA version doesn't sound very interesting... and I'm sure you would generate alot more players if you had a Playstation version.

Because I'm 1 foot closer to a screen, they say that will ruin my eyes and a TV wont.

Torankusu 08-11-2002 05:17 AM

porn isn't found on some video games.

Neglected:

Most parents go and mention something about your eyesight when you use the computer too much.

Hah, I remmember when I first got my Dreamcast, I invited a couple friends over and we stayed up all night looking for porn on the internet! I hope PS2 can play movies from the internet:)

brock128 08-11-2002 05:21 AM

Gamecube version would be better, as there's GBA/GCN conectability. Yay.

Haha. I did that once when I said I was going to a school dance and was going to spend the night over at my friend's house. I don't think we got caught.

Probably. But it doesn't sound like they are going in the right track with this Graal GBA stuff...

Jourdan 08-11-2002 05:24 AM

They won't finish the GBA version, because it's a completely different game. But the thing I'm talking about is the same thing we play on computers, but just on the PS2... It has a harddrive, so I was wondering maybe you can just burn Graal onto a CD and save it in the HDD?

Spectre1337 08-11-2002 05:28 AM

They will never finish anything until they get a decent staff.. And who is this nao guy who flooded the GBA forum with stickies? Ive never heard of him before.

Quit *****ing about the staff, we know you're only hinting that you want to be staff, which is not a good way to get a job.
And I believe Nao is a girl... well, from at least what Porky told me... Porky told me she was some really hot chick with a big set :megaeek:

Torankusu 08-11-2002 05:33 AM

PS2 has a hard drive?

brock128 08-11-2002 05:33 AM

Nao is doing her job fine, I think.

It's an external HDD, but you have to buy it and attach it.

Torankusu 08-11-2002 05:37 AM

hah.

Xbox has a hard drive built in, and I think the Online Features will cost less than PS2's.

Online for PS2 is decided by the game.

It's $40 for the network adapter, which I think nets you a coupon for Twisted Metal Black : Online...Not entirely sure.

EDIT EDIT LOL OLOLOLOL

Why would you put a 2d game like Graal onto something like PS2?

It'd be a total waste of power. :\

Brad 08-11-2002 05:42 AM

X box > PS2. Easily.

Jourdan 08-11-2002 05:42 AM

Most PCs nowdays have the same, if not more, power than a gaming console. Why waste that power? Who cares, it's a fun and additive game. Graphics aren't the only thing that makes a game.

...

I'm referring to the fact that a game like Graal would be WASTED on the PS2; it's designed for much better things.

Torankusu 08-11-2002 05:47 AM

i want to buy a yoshi boxx.
maybe they should offer trade-ins of your three consoles, and your computer for a "custom build" yoshi boxx.

Let me clear up a few things

1. Im not *****ing to be staff. I could care less. I am just worried about the development of this. I do not want it to disapear one day and lose everything I put into it. And yes, it could easily disapear with the low quality staff it has. Plus, Stefan and unixmad = two man team? Come on guys, hire more people even if it costs a lot, the better the game / advertising the more money you can make. Dont forget that!

2. I dont have anything against Nao. I just said, I have never seen him/her/it before. Is nao a new staff member for Graal GBZ, or just a forum moderator, nobody has told me. Im not mad about anything, please dont take me for a disrespectful person.

1. If they hire more people (they already have five employed at the office), then that means that subscription prices = +++++.

2. They explained who Nao was; a member of the Cyberjoueur team who works at the Graal Online offices in France.

Um they have hired quite a few people, I can name 2 people off the top of my head. Nao and cardone, I'm sure there are more, they just aren't talked about. They can not afford advertising anyway.

about 1. No, I mean like, if they had a advertisement, like on Yahoo, which is one of the most successful websites out there, they would make a bundle.

about 2. Ok, Sir.

Spectre1337 08-11-2002 06:27 AM

They cant afford advertising? Have you gone mad?

All they have to do is make a banner ad. Voiala, they are being advertised. What I am saying is, I would put a banner on my site. I am sure more people would put a banner on their site. Maybe a banner on www.Cactaur.com (But maybe not, not very popular itself)..

Thats just what I have been talknig about, banner ads for the Graal community to put on their webpages! Advertise at the end of your email address, and forums like GTA3Forums.. Advertise in your signature.

It isnt hard to advertise for anything, and most advertising is free!

xbox's is going to be $50, for the software, the headset, and a free game.(some racing crap game)

so its basically buying a crappy game and getting free xbox live?

in japan the free game is PSO

Admins 08-11-2002 07:24 AM

Graal will probably need a hard drive to save the dynamic data (since Graal uses a lot of dynamic data, often updated). So the Xbox is more interesting for now, but PS2 will be interesting too.

Graal2001_LAT 08-11-2002 07:29 AM

nao is a programmer, she goes to an engineering school. I think she's perfectly capable of handling the project.

James 08-11-2002 07:30 AM

I was implying television advertising and advertising on major gaming websites and companies.

Let me explain it this way

you start small, baking bread in a 2k1 bread factory

once you have gotten enough money from that,

you go big, and mine in a 2k1 mine

Sort of like that, start small then go big.. They could atleast have a banner made

Jourdan 08-11-2002 07:54 AM

It doesn't matter to me which platform you pick, but I would rather stick with PS2. Alot of my friends who like to play Graal don't have an XBox, so they'd be SOL... and so would I because, I never wanted to buy one... Just look at this, imagine trying to play Graal with a XBox controller.... HELL x.x

Would it be any harder than playing graal with a controller for the computer? I highly doubt it.

I hope you know, Xbox offers two different types of controllers. The "large" controllers, and a smaller type (Controller-S.)

i don't see what difference it would make unless you have really small hands.

Amagius 08-11-2002 10:20 AM

I love it webbin on PS2, because it asks you if you want to save the temp files or not and also cookies, so no one knows. That was the thing I enjoyed the first day with Online PS2. Also, right now, It would be hard to make Graal on PS2, because many Rpm's haven't come out, and please, PLEASE tell me you'd rather spend 15k. Anyways, I'm going to buy the other three High Gen Consoles, so really, I wouldn't care if it came out for X-Box, but you'd probably end up encreasing the graphics. I can picture it.....:D

Graal via GBA = not so great in my opinion, the cartridges have a very limited amount of memory somewhere around 60 MB I think? PS2 tops like hundreds of MB. Yes, PS2 will have a hard drive Torankusu see the empty slot in the back when you open it up? That's where it will go and I believe games like ::drooling:: Xenosaga will require it. I find most of the players enjoy the interaction and chatting on Graal just as much as playing thus Gameboy version might be okay for road trips yet not so great for oh say GBA versus comp. I could make a really cool server for offline mode and I can guarantee relatively few people would actually play it alot, they'd miss their friends

I'm not sure about the capacity, but the most I've seen in today's games are about 7 MB. Xenosaga, I believe will NOT require it. I don't see why everybody likes this interaction thing of Graal. 3/4 of the People are either SSJ, *****s, or BF/GF. Anyways, it's not like you need to Role Play for Graal first need anyways. I consider this a return to the old school ZO Graal, but if it features an RPG screen like G2k2, I'll still be thrilled.

Flamingblaze 08-11-2002 10:59 AM

Sounds good if with rp :X

G_yoshi 08-11-2002 11:19 AM

All three of the current consoles are capable of using a HDD. So far, only one of the three ports on the bottom of the Gamecube is being used and that is the modem. And as I understand it, Nintendo isn't going to fully launch their online stuff until next year...the only reason its kicking off this year with PSO is because Sega pushed them to. Although its speculation, but I wouldn't doubt that Nintendo will release a HDD for the GC next year.

Besides, I think Nintendo might have a fit if Stefan tries to put Graal on a rival system ;)
