What has Graal evolved into?
 

Yes, what has IT evolved into? Back in the day, GraalOnline was a small online game. The community was strong, and it was fun. You could upload your house design/levels, it didn't matter how they looked or what style was used in the collaboration. You were given this freedom, privaledge, it was your RIGHT as a player, and member of the community. It was your main objective to collect fullhearts, NPCs, and join guilds. This was what made Graal what it is. Those times have passed though.

Years later however, GraalOnline staff introduced the idea of P2P servers. This gave "Owners" rights to tilesets, NPC Server, and other bonuses. Main Server was released, a la Graal2001. The brainchild of Stefan, with the help of Antago and other legends, the server would become a prelude to NewWorld. Broken promises, no, bad decisions, yes.

The way I see it, Graal is evolving into every other MMORPG out there. What diversity and creativity the game had, it's losing slowly. I can see it, who else can? It started out as ZeldaOnline, and it's turning into an RO clone. There hasn't been a new playerworld up since Maloria, and that was an accident (no offense!). The content isn't reliable, and you never know what expect with Graal, I guess this was part of the fun back then.

Graal has the potential, I just wish someone could harness it. Graal2002 will be a success, no doubt. It's only in the beta stages, but what gets me is... will it follow the same fate that Graal2001 did? I surely hope not, instead, one would think it's better to focus on one project at a time, and optimize it. Like they always say, quality over quanity. But wait, this is Graal... "The Adventure."

I remember Graal back when I started playing, good ol days :D
Now graal is turning into some stupid fancy RPG clone (g2k2 for example) it's not like im dissing stefan's hard work, i'm just saying it's spinning out of control. I liked it when Graal was just a big Zelda clone, now it's something else that doesn't even resemble Zelda anymore :(

I think 2k2 is better and has the potential to be ten times better than it already is

Online games like Graal can't stay small forever, and I'm sick of people crying about too many people playing. Sure it was fun back then since the community was based around one server (classic) and there were way less players.

Graal has never really been innovative at all. The basically cloned Zelda, and worked from there.. none of the stuff they have made is innovative. 2k2 is turning into a graphical MUD, which isn't anything new.

I still think Graal has a chance to be great.. that is why I upgraded again.

If you started Graal now, I guarantee it would be just as fun as when you first started.

Yea, Graal is going down the drain. It needs help, and fast. Stefan/Unixmad also need to focus on one thing at a time. They should have Graal2K2 PERFECT, THE WAY THEY WANT IT, before they start to think about Graal on Game Body Advance. Graal Classic should not have gone p2p, and stefan shouldn't hand out npc-servers like it's candy.

Graal also seems to be losing it's sence of fun to the players too. Look at the guilds for example. They make up a lot of the fun on Graal, and Unixmad has been neglecting them for months now.

People don't like too many players? You have got to be kidding me. It sucks when there are only 60some other people on the server you're playing on :(. I loved it back when Graal Classic would get 250+ people on. That was the prime time for guild warring, PKing, and all of the other great things that made the game.

This isn't a thread about negativity. It's just that too much has changed, Graal isn't what it use to be.

Like I said, Graal2002 is great, I never said it wasn't... I just wish some things wouldn't have to change.

So I guess you want it to go back to the time when there was tons of copyrighted stuff on Graal, and there were no npc servers, so 90% of the playerbase would be cheaters?

I don't find that fun. I still say it's because Graal is not innovative. See it was fun when you first started playing.. then nothing new happens, and things get boring. Or when new things happen, they get old fast.

Graal needs more innovation and less crap. :)
