A solution to the crash and burn?

My theory is that NPC Server is crashing due to the new chat system. Just before it went down, the chat system was really, really full. I think, prior to removing it entirely, you should try and limit the number of messages a player can send in a given amount of time(1 message per 15 seconds).

Spectre1337 07-23-2002 09:01 PM

Either that or they could get someone who could put it back up every five minutes

TheFrozenFiend 07-23-2002 09:01 PM

Yeah. Some idiot said

"Im a stupid lame newbie. Help me cause I suck"

50 times.

(Or at least thats how I interpreted it)

VampiricTutorNewHD 07-23-2002 09:02 PM

One guy was like "how do u plant trees????" about 50 times within 20 seconds.

TheFrozenFiend 07-23-2002 09:03 PM

Thats the person I was referring to. :p

Kaimetsu 07-23-2002 09:04 PM

I'm doubtful that it was the reason for the crash, but I think those shouts are stupid anyway. They just flood up the screen and distract people for no real benefit. Toalls are far better.

TheFrozenFiend 07-23-2002 09:07 PM

The system is good.
They should just stop shouting.
Leave it so you can do the party message but remove shouting.
Also remove the deaths.
I dont really care if Bob has been killed by Fred before Fred was murdered by Bob The Second.

Also, I think that if someone kills a guy who is still in the sand that they be warped directly to jail.

Googi 07-23-2002 09:09 PM

I doubt that is the CAUSE, but it likely contributes.

Hah, wimp, just keep dying until they leave or something. Its fun to kill people when they are defenseless

Agreed. It's like it's pretending to be Quake.

It would also be fun to see you in sporkjail.nw, named after you for being the first ever lamer on g2k2.

If you are reffering to GodSpeeds Chat system, it does crash NPC Server, as soon as it reaches 25 people. All you have to do is limit amount of peopl to 10, or better yet remove it.

Also That killing thing should be like anoption, you want it, turn it no, no want it, off it goes! And no shouts... there are too many dumbasses.

I knew it. I knew Godspeed was behind it. It has his name written all over it.

This is so stupid, I get on yesterday for 5 seconds and it crashed.. Then today for 5 seconds and it crashed.. I never even spent a whole minute on this server.
