All you people starting new PWs etc.

mmmmkay: Okay, this is how I feel about all these people starting new playerworlds. You do not have the skills and the staff to start new playerworlds, they are going absolutely nowhere. Stop them, and search for current projects in the works. Or do you not care to do that because you won't become an elite manager with level 4 RC? All these PWs are looking for staff, join them or something. Good workers are few to none anymore, so your dead in the water before you start. Just a good idea for you PW starters. :(

that's the trouble im having is actually finding good staff...i can do most of the work by myself, and i'd see it through to the end, but it's taking so long...and i'm impatient...
oh well:(

I agree 100% Heh, I'm one of the many current PWs looking for staff :(

Yes, these people starting new PW projects just want the thrill of being in control...My response to this is, just work for a PW for some time...it may take awhile but eventually you will be given the responsibilities you deserve. Working your way up is far better than you think.

IAMNOTAFREAK 07-14-2002 11:40 AM

yeah, very true, having your own pw should mean more than just having control...ive worked as an nat for some time now, and ive worked under people and ive had control, but it's more than that, it's doing a good job and helping out...as a pw manager i'd want to do more than just sit around, i'd want to do my job and help the pw get better...but i need others helping me in order to do that efficiently (hint hint, i need staff!)

Yes working on a playerworld instead of making one is a better idea.. Besides being a manager isnt all its cracked up to be. People annoy you and bug you to be staff and ask for previews and other things.. Not always the best thing in the world.

geez, i wish people would beg me for a staff position, lol

I like working a lot more than managing, when you work, you just deal with your specific spot, when you're a manager (I was comanager on providence) you have to deal with all the bullshit people speak about you, all the arguments between staff, supervise all the development, etc etc, it's easier being a normal developer

I expressed some interest before for working on a playerworld. The only ones I like though are Babylon, Maloria, N-Pulse, and Rudora. The rest are !ugh! and ridiculously big. bleh! Not my type.

I'm gonna be helping out with Exodus only now. I'm just gonna keep the one I was doing as just a personal project to learn things from.

lol. You forgot to include the ones that say "Can I be GP and get level 10 RC?"

i like the idea that i worked from the bottom up to get my position. I started out just playing DD after about 150 hours i got the job as lat, then after about 6 months i worked my way through the works and ive been admin for about 3 months...and if i stick in my job on DD for long enough ill prolly end up being co-manager or manager some day. It's nice to have that feeling and its a good way to hone your skills before u make a jump into making a playerworld. To make the playerworld u need 2 things. alotta skills, and alotta friends with skills. Thats what you get when you work on current pw's or upcoming pw's in positions of your trade...thats just my experience yours may be different.

You said the best words and the number one key words "a lot of friends"
When you have a lot of friends and are well liked you have no problem finding willing staff.

Your sooooo right mmmmkay :D

Spectre1337 07-14-2002 09:21 PM

All you who are making a PW, could work on my PW with me.. That would make it like 5x easier. Plus it would be easier to manage the PW when it came up if it had like 3 or 4 managers. ;)

Just an idea..

WHIPENIE4 07-14-2002 10:05 PM

I agree with mmmmkay.

Its better to help a current pw get better then causeing more shitty ones to go up, and being a manager isn't that fun. I was co-manager for Mithica and its a lot of work you have to supervise over all the positions when the other isn't on to help you, you have to pretty much baby-sit the staff and get work done at the same time. I can only image what an Manager must go through :p

Manager is a confuseing job, you think of the story line you have to be organized something doesn't go well its you're fault, you take full responsiblility for you're staff and there actions they do something wrong it reflects you and you're pw too. Bah, I rather be a player or easy job like gat.
