Brief update on RP document in progress

1 Attachment(s)
To inform, I've resumed working on my RP document. At this point, it contains as of now, the final JobClass and Innate lists and I'm just starting on the Skills List which will contain whatever skills I can come up with which will range from single to triple (requiring 3 specific JobClasses).

For a small teaser, 2 of the elemental innates are being broken up into 2 sub-elements. Water is being broken up into of course Water and Ice while Sky (Air/Wind) is being broken into Air and Lightening. Players can still opt to choosing the base element itself but for those that want to specialize in something like ice abilities can choose Ice to be able to develop skills based upon choosen JobClasses.

I will also be posting along with this thread, my current document in progress in html form. I do this because I am using images in the document which will obviously represent what they are established as. This is for only those wishing to help me complete this document...just follow the style I've already been using so that it stays simple. If anyone wants to use it for their own reason, fine, but at least inform me first. I have done a few things to the html file to sorta prevent people from stealing it and claiming it as their idea :p

Your feedback is welcomed...

*edit* Anyone that makes additions and whatnot, please email me what you added (preferably by sending me back the document in the zip file). If I approve it, then I'll add it in and comment who the creator of the addition was.

As for the new overworld...still in progress. I really need to start setting some small goals by which I will have certain things completed by :[

Extra note: I will try to keep the document fairly up-to-date with any additions I approve of plus stuff I've added. I hope this will be quite a comprehensive list of everything RP related for Doragon Koden :) Of course, I will have many secret and unlisted skills, magic, etc. ;)

Here is an updated list.

*note: I probably won't update everyday necessarily, but I will try to update at least once or twice a week if I've added anything

Right-click and 'Save As'

I'm not flaming here but I am kinda tired of seeing Water Elements and Fire and all that such. What you should do is create your own monsters and create a personal profile for each, on its powers, health, strength, etc. That will be a whole lot better than some Fire guy or whatever you do. Just some advice on behalf of my opinion.

Explain :p

It's somewhat typical to incorporate elements into RPGs. Of course I will have monsters and what not that have their own unique abilities...forcing players to choose from presets would be the most idiotic thing I could do.

My goal is to focus on unique players choosing what they want to be based upon several attributes.

Heck I could probably have one of my 2 excellent NPC Scripters build a monster that transforms to the player attacking it by matching status attributes.

There are so many things you can do it would be a horrific mistake to slough off the extra features that some if not all players want. If you don't want to be aligned with an element you can simply choose to remain unaligned if you didn't notice :p However, the game will be a little more difficult since you won't have access to some of the special skills and stuff.

Most RP-related things I've seen on Graal usually allow the player to choose one thing from a set of several...there's isn't much diversity in that. I even plan to allow custom Magic, Items, Skills, Weapons, Armor, etc. provided they are somewhat balanced. That way, players can truely build their character(s) how they want to so that it fully fits their personality. I say characters because I imagine some will use their multiple accounts to do different things :)

Hopefully, you now understand the method behind my madness. I've layed my cards upon the table...

I know what the hell you are doing, you are giving set amounts for others to customize. Make the player start out fresh.

Ehem, they do start out fresh :p Heh, I may even in the future allow players to add new JobClasses with their 4 respective levels. Getting this off the ground is the hard part...after that everything else will be a breeze :)

Its hard to try and provide for every single possible outcome so you start out small and go from there. It would be foolish to create an RP system that doesn't contain some kinds of restrictions; things would be fairly chaotic. The restictions I will set aren't that very hard, any player of any set of JobClasses of any element can learn almost everything but things outside what they are actually capable of learning will be difficult (in that meaning it will take them longer to learn it).

As for set amounts, I do not understand. Most if not all variables that players will have will be random within given ranges. As for customizable skills and what not, those are just simple options. Just be glad I'm not forcing players to be limited as to how many skills they can posses at one time :p

There has to be structure otherwise nothing will be properly balanced and everything will turn into a giant disaster :(
