They rather you pay with a credit card.
Pay by phone option was made for people who can't pay with their CC online (or just don't want to :P).

I wish I could pay over phone, and not have to worry about a giant phone bill later on. My parents don't have a CC.

Your parents don't have a CC? Well if they ever buy anything online, credit cards are better in the fact that they are more secure as most credit cards are insured. If they bought something from a bad company with a check-card, they would lose their money, regardless of whether they received anything or not. With a credit card, this would not happen.

75% overhead is why. You pay 4 bucks over the phone, 3 bucks goes to the service, Unixmad only gets 1.
