Second Thought about Utopia...
 

Hmm... will the recent talk of there being too many RP servers already, I think it may be a nice change just to quit the whole war theme for Utopia and make it a fun casual server where you can work, play, raise an npc family, ect... Its also arose since I notice there isn't much more room to build playerhouses and such with the huge military base covering 1/4th of the map... so what do you think? Should Utopia be RP or just good clean fun? :)

In my opinion, do this look at the hard core RP servers now, how many players really play them? Very few , they have the worse player count of all servers and that should tell you that the majority of players do not play the RP servers..... so if I were you I wouldn't make another one . Now I do admit I think the RP servers are the best made servers online and yet they are not popular with the players.....

Actually it depends on how you look at it.
G2k2 Role playign major construction. Nothing to do yet.
Valikorlia Crappy server. Lots of people play it
Providence. Nothing is released except a temporary overworld with no NPC's Although almost everything is ready.

So yes if you want to ignore why no one plays them then you're correct but if you look at the Val even though it is a horribly crappy server it still gets lots of RPers. So when 2k2 and Providence release there stuff I would expect there Player count to rise as well.

But considering hwo many RP servers are bieng made I would say just plain fun.

Look at the playerworlds that have lots of players on them.

What do they contain:
- Lots of pkers.
- Active Guild participation.
- Lot's of NPC's.
- no stupid jobs where you hit D 50 times (next week it will be 'hit D 100 times' ;) lol ).
- Stupid easy quests.
- No storyline.
- No LAG or a lot less than some others.

;) ;)

Utopia is already a name of a online3 game and i bet you know that so you cant use that as your name sorry its copyrighted and if they put it up they could get there ass sewed

Um, Utpoia is also a word. Meaning something like a perfect society.

Uptopia means:
[1]often Utopia An ideally perfect place, especially in its social, political, and moral aspects.
[2]A work of fiction describing a utopia.
[3]An impractical, idealistic scheme for social and political reform.

hey guyz..ummm i liked the war theme thing...i juss dont like the RP where u have to like tell people off in a classy way.."Hail, ye are ***..."

but ur idea seemed awesome i thought...and i would play on it.

Mostly, the reason RP servers aren't getting many players is that they are just makeing some levels and letting players try to figure out what to do. I know that is Hardcore RP, but I'd find it more fun to play ADnD w/ myself than go on a graal server that has nothing to do. This is online, You need to provide players with many things and posibilities for fun. And I don't see RP servers doing that. Rather they have no central gameflow and let the player do anything, with nothing to do.

Sorry, but RP just wouldn't work... the only way of which I think it would would be if there were like 60 active players online at one time... and even then, they would find the long hours of military service pointless and too much work... dont worry, however, the new utopia will have all the cool stuff from the old, just not the storyline

Maybe RP wont work becasue you dont know what online RP is...

in this type of RP scale which i planned, which wont be used, it would need a pretty bigass army, but theres nothing to make the players keep playing... not much to look forward to.
