Graal should hold actual interviews with potential GPs and hand-pick the ones that seem unbiased, mature, and trust worthy. It shouldn't be that hard, but with Graal, half the fun is its unpredictable nature :(

Having players who could jail bad players was such a good idea.... if only it hadn't gone bad. What needed to be done was that they only had the ability to jail players... perhaps that would have been better.

But please, no GPs... no no please no GPs on 2001... not yet, at least.

Dante, I think that Classic server GPs on G2k1 would be ideal because they've already been used to dealing with 200+ players, that this would be a sinch.

IF I become Police Chief (which I doubt cause anyone can run), I would make it like this: First, you would have to get one admin sponser thats on 2001. Events team, Police, etc don't count, but MadBrad and stuff count. Then they would email me and we would set up a chat, like on ICQ. I would ask questions, and if they do good, I would think about it. Since they have the power to jail, they would have to be very good, for me to make them a chief. I know a lot of people don't want me to be the chief though =(

If they are going to have GP or Police (they seem like basically the same thing), then they need to make sure the ones they choose are chosen for their maturity, their ability to handle responsibility, and their personality, instead of because they're friends with the Admins. Friendship shouldn't be dependant on favors.

G2K1 is a p2p game and as such, the rules need to be changed. G2K1 is a buisiness now, and needs to realize that the customer has to be considered first, or the customer will eventually find another venue for their hard-earned money. Things, like corrupt GPs or GPs that didn't do their job or abused their power, might have been tolerated on Classic but a paying player is going to expect more and be more critical.

G2K1 has already made a few mistakes in their public relations and advertising, so to speak, which may hurt them a little now but isn't such a big deal if they handle things correctly from now on. Most important, they need to have a fully playable, enjoyable, professional game product by the end of June.

This means they need to be very careful who they appoint into positions of power and responsibility. Voting for appointments is a good idea, and should be a definate consideration when deciding who to place in a paticular post, but it needs to be a consideration, not the last word.

Police aren't too powerful, though. Which is, I think, a good thing.

If the lines wer drawn, though, I'd choose TheGame, I never really knew ShadowFox much.

The police aren't powerful yet. The game is going to need some kind of GP-like positions though eventually. It may not need them now when there's so few people on most of the time... but I'm sure the plan is not to keep the player count low. They want the game to be successful, so hopefully, they're thinking ahead. Why fix a problem later when you can just establish it correctly in the first place?

The disciplinary comittee, whatever it is, is bound to have as many problems. Almost all the old GPs gained despisal with their new positions. Many for good reasons! By limiting the powers of the Police, we can establish their abilities without also building player resentment.

I think the Police idea is okay, but we should vote on people who aren't stupid *coughWellycough* and that have had past experience GPing.

I do think police should have limited power maybe only the jailing and maybe warpto.
I think they might need warpto because someone in Mt Antora could just say that the guy next to him is PKing him but he really isn't and then an innocent player would be jailed so police need warpto so they can warp tp the scene to see if the player IS PKing.

warpto is a grey area, on one hand, it would be useful, on the other, it's very eay to overuse for one's own benefit. For example, we had almost killed Ice Pick and he used warpto to get to a spot were we players can't get regularly. Then he warped to the bomy daycare, a no-pk zone.

Yeah Police are useful only on a server with 100+ players of which 10% seem to have an obsession with hacking. Killing is bad in 2001 but give the NPC police a lick of paint and they can defend citizens etc.. and they wont warpto admin levels and mess around a bit. They Will still have something against bomys tho lol
