Gravity Playerworld
1 Attachment(s)
Some of you may remember gravity levels here an there in Sanstrata and other playerworlds. Places that played like
classic mario or mega man, where "down" is at the bottom of the screen. What do you think of a whole playerworld like that? I mean just as a method of playing environment. For a system that works nearly perfectly, as in you can't hold up to slow your fall, and for baddies to obey gravity too, i have that part made. As you can see from this throw-together screen shot, I would really need LAT's and a modified tileset, especially to take out the green (make transparent) for the outdoor tiles. Please give feedback and let me know if you want to help. btw. i used to be Sanstrata owner and nat admin. And it would be totally differnt from that old dead server. |
I think it could work.
It would score points for creativity =) -Jinx |
Yea i was thinking about doing that but it would take to much time and programming =/ atleast for me heh
|
I could understand a few quests like it...but a whole server like that...Sounds like it would only work as a one player game, sorry guy, although original, wouldn't really work out for a MMORPG...

welll
Thanks for the points, Jinx =) (for those who dont know, Jinx worked for Sanstrata a long time, he and I are buddies, I taught him some stuff about pw managing and i learned some froem him too)
Oh, but in the online gravity levels that I remember playing on Sanstrata, especially the gravity absed quests I made, playing on a server like that is fun! Plus have you heard of a game called super smash brothers for the nintendo? Its a multiplayer environment with up to 4 ppl in one gravity room all sparring, essentially. Ok, anyone want to help with this? send me a forum PM (the little button that says "pm" under this post). Need: Graphics person to help with tileset, then very creative LAT's for making this world. Granted, the map is gonna look funny (one long line per town) but it shure will be interesting and different AND FUN! |
sounds like alotta fun and it would get creativity points but it would be ridiculously hard and im not sure how one would have interactions...maybe u could do it though....i dunno good luck if u decide to do it
|
its creative but for a massive multiplayer game it doesnt really work I dont think=\ you could have a good time trying so go for it
|
You can do what they did in the mario games after and including Mario 3... Make like a map where they can move around and select the town they want to go to, and then they get warped to the start level of their selection. This project seems like it would be awfully hard though, and you would probably need a new tileset...

Just imagine what the map would look like.

Corupt: :-( I was going to make my entire minigame like that.. This could be done. But you should follow these guidelines:
1. Make new tiles for it. Using the old ones won't work. they aren't made for a side-scrolling view obviously. 2. To solve the "having to jump over people" problem, just make it so you walk through people. Not very hard. :) 3. Maybe you could do it like Zelda where you are in overhead view or something when walking outside of forests and towns and stuff. That might help. ;) |
