server improvements

for folder rights given to staff it should let you use wild cards on file names like:
levels/guilds/guild*FAQ*.txt

also i would like to see an option is the server options that disables certan global guilds(ie they must be in the local guild to wear that tag on the server).. it would be somthing like this:
restrictedguilds=RC),Admin),FAQ)

i would like to see thos

I think you can give folder rights as
levels/guilds_servername/guild*FAQ.txt or whatever. Some people only have access to 1 guild, is that what you mean?

Falcor 06-19-2002 03:58 AM

why put a end parenthesis after the guildname???

Maybe so the person can have access to everything starting with FAQ and ending with whatever, for example
guildFAQ_Admin
or
guildFAQ_Chief.

To signafy that it's the end of the guildname? I'm sure you'd rather have (RC) instead of idiots adding things like (RC COMMANDER LELZLA), wouldn't you?

DragonX2 06-19-2002 04:23 AM

Oops, misread :(

Falcor 06-19-2002 04:35 AM

I thought al names were absolute, not automatic wildcard =\

Bah.

mikepg 06-19-2002 07:28 AM

Bah.

Because I dont want global FAQ or GP's or someone going on the server & saying they own the place..

what?? i want to be able to give access to certan files with out having to give them access to each & every file in there rights

levels/guilds/guildFAQ*.txt

other then

levels/guilds/guildFAQ_Admin.txt
levels/guilds/guildFAQ_Captan.txt
levels/guilds/guildFAQ.txt

etc....

Pir 06-19-2002 11:41 AM

you can give people rights to one file in the ftp lol, stefan does it for me lolol

Bhala 06-19-2002 11:44 AM

I know that. I want to give rights to many files with one line of code

Yakuna2001 06-19-2002 05:11 PM

its just as easy to write out 3 lines of code really rather than do all that rescripting. waste of time.
and if you did wildcards, they could upload stuf like dragon said and make guilds like (FAQ_COMMANDER F**K YOU ALL)
so lets just keep it to 1 line of txt - 1 guild editing right :)

Uhh...you have to be staff to upload guilds, and I dont think anyone on any server is that stupid. And even if they were, the FAQ team should have a right to delete any guilds like that if necessary.

Falcor 06-19-2002 09:52 PM

Im pretty sure you can do things like

rw levels/guilds_servername/guildFAQ*.txt

They wouldnt be able to upload guilds unless i gave them access to the whole folder. Also if we could use wildcards then I can put rights on files by naming them a certan way... like if i gave all my staff:
r staffdocs/R_*
rw staffdocs/RW_*

I could upload new files that they have access too with out changing 20 peeps rights...

Falcor 06-20-2002 12:41 AM

prehaps just rw levels/guilds_servername/guildFAQ*

would work better

exactly what I was going to say :p

The server may not understand having a wildcard before the extension

Bhala 06-20-2002 03:50 AM

lol well they work now
