useful npc >)

VERY useful little tool that would help me alot, is a tree tile layer. like, for instance, we have sand path, its a little lame to use, however, a tree layer ( when u click your mouse on the board, it lays a tree, and if u drag it layes the trees joined tiles so that it can put a tree next to it ) would be very useful, if anyone would volunteer making this, as i looked at some other npc's like this and there a litle too hard for meh ^_^
its good for if you want to make a forest, but without running the level gen then its quicker to just use npc tree later :) anyway get back to me if you can at LEAST help me make it or if someone lieks the idea make it for yourself and share it with me :)

I could make one that just added trees but it wouldn't link them together...

Any thing like that is lot's of work. how sad.

a tree layer would be pretty pointless being as though you can just use the predefined, the fact that it checks if you drag it is the hard bit...... so no one can help?

Saga2001 06-15-2002 12:20 PM

It would be nice if we all got unlazy, huh?

Can you even make NPC's that change the tiling of levels? The only way I know of is to make it drop NPC tree's (Graphics)

Then again, I'm not even close to being a scripter so... :)

Urizen :)

erm, have you opened the level editor in the last 6 months?
predefined NPC's tab try using it o.O!
i wanted a tree layer on the same basis as what the sand path maker does, only with trees! you can script your own you see......

Welcome to what I like to call "The light side"

Yes, my friend, we are talking about the level editor..although, you can edit tiles ingame...using updateboard[]

Personally, I dont think scripting the tree thing would be too good of an idea. think of all the if-statements someone would have to right out...oh the humanity.

I believe what is in question here is whether or not this can be done in online mode. The answer is yes... but only for the person doing it. No one else sees the changes. (Unless, as you said, putnpc/2 is used.)

Such a scirpt is possible, although it might be easier to use the level generator for the big forest parts and for small editing just copy other tree parts to make the trees fit perfectly or so

Bhala 07-01-2002 10:10 PM

Yea well the level generator doesnt work on .nw levels or with other tile sets =\
